Reception comparison with E815?
Does anybody have experience using the RAZR and the E815 in exactly the same places so that you can compare the number of bars? I find that my V710 is slightly better than the RAZR (this is definitely not because of the analog band), but I don't think it's the extendable antenna (which has at best a very slight effect.) I have heard the E815 is better than both by a fair margin. That seems a bit unlikely, but anybody know for sure?

I used to have the E815 phone. It was a very good phone with great reception. The razr phone also has great reception as well. In comparing the two phones, keep in mind that the E815 shows five bars in it's signal strength and the razr has only four. This I believe is due to the different interface both phones use. So the E815 may show three bars in a particular location while the razr shows one or two bars...but they both have equal reception and the difference is in their software interface. Just my opinion...... 😁

Thanks. You are probably right and your response is exactly what I was looking for. My V710 shows 1-2 bars when my RAZR shows only the antenna, but I can still make a call with the RAZR. I found a comment on HowardForums that apparently the signal meter on the RAZR tends to be somewhat erratic in general. I am not sure I believe that the E815 is going to be materially better than the V710 in phone reception.
I must reluctantly conclude that the problem is solely the location of my house. As Verizon has become busier, my house has gradually become more marginal since CDMA cells shrink their range to service the nearer phones. I think the RAZR is just slightly more inclined to drop a call under these circumstances.
I have also discovere...

I have also found that the RAZR has better sound quality at one bar than any other phone I have used. On my Treo, if I would have tried to make a call with one bar, the phone would have laughed at me and told me "Try Again Later".

I have tried those 2 phones and more in many dead spots where I live. The razor beats them all when it comes to RF. The signel meter is very conservative. You can't guage a phone by the meter.

My partner's E815 typically shows more bars than my RAZR -- pretty much anywhere, but the call clarity seems to be consistenly excellent for both phones.

Just went from an E815 to a RAZR. Razr has better reception for sure. Haven't dropped a call yet...

I have the E815 and the RAZR both with Verizon. From what I've seen, I am able to put out and successfully hold a call in pretty much the exact same places with both phones. So they're pretty much identical on reception... at least, that's here in southwestern Virginia. Reception is really put to the test with all the mountains around here.
It seems to me that the RAZR might just be a tad bit weaker on reception than the E815. This is probably from the fact that it's an internal antenna. But still, for an internal CDMA antenna, I was VERY pleased with its performance. You also have to take into account that the Verizon RAZR has the new UI in it, and will only display 4 bars of signal as "full signal", while the E815 uses the tradi...

I have used the 710, 815, and am now in the razr. I am in a poor towered location and right by the lake and so far my razr has equal reception to 710, and 815 even with its internal antenna. My personal opinion is the 710 worked better then the 815, but I love my razr.
