...if I never plan on using the MP3 player?

Or should I get the 815? I have the Treo 650 now.

I can't tell you which phone to buy. It all depends on what are essential features for you. The E815 is marginally better than the a950 when it comes to RF and hackability. There is a trade off for those only advantages in terms of very flimsy construction and possibly less reliability. There could be other less expensive Verizon phones to consider, too, if you don't need a camera, or don't use the great Voice Command systems that both the E815 and a950 share (the software for both is written by Voice Signal,Inc).

thanks for replying.
I like the reception of the 815, but the interior screen of the 950; I also like not having an antenna.

I have the Treo 650. Mainly use it as a phone, phonebook, calendar. Then web access. that's all I need. I like EV-DO.
I can't get the bluetooth to work with the Treo, and it's starting to drive me crazy, so I want to switch.

I also am getting tired of the bigger size of the Treo, which is a bit too big for my pocket.

Have you checked out the 8100? IMO, it is the best phone Verizon has to offer right now.

Remember Bluetooth with any Verizon phone only works with the headphone. You can not connect via Bluetooth with your computer legitimately with the a950 or the vx-8100. However, I believe with some hacks people can do so with the E815.
If Voice Commands are important to you (they are to me especially with my Bluetooth headphone), only consider the a950 or the E815. The vx-8100 has a different voice command system that requires way too many prompts before dialing the call, and many people complain it makes way more mistakes in name recognition than the Voice Signal system on the E815 and a950.

I only use the bluetooth as an earpiece for my phone when driving.

I like this phone, but just feel like I'm paying a lot for an MP3 player which I'll never use (don't have an MP3 player currently)

In order to get Bluetooth, you have to spend for the mp3 player you won't use. Right now, that feature only seems available on upper end phones. Still, depending on what you have to pay for this phone, it may be worth it. If you have the new every 2 deal, with all the rebates and discounts, you may only spend $50 or less. I love the Bluetooth especially with the great Voice Command system on this phone. It is quite cold here in Cleveland. While I am driving, I just click the little button on the the light headset when I need to receive or make a call. My phone never needs to leave my belt and can stay under my heavy winter coat. It's just great!
