I know that on the E815 your sounds can "apply as ringtone"...can you do that on the A950? because if you cant than pretty much the only thing left is GIN...im not the kinda person that uses BITPIM or w/e...so the whole ringtone thing might suck for me if i end up getting the A950 ☚ī¸ ...one more question...are the stereo speakers loud? can they be heard very easily? thanks anybody's help who replys 😁

The only thing you can do right now is wait for Bitpim to support the A950, or you can send a 30 second wal-mart sound clip to yourphonenumber@vzwpix.com and save it as a sound and then set it as a ringer, that is what i have currently and although its not mp3 quality, it does the job until Bitpim is ready..... the stereo speakers are pretty damn loud, i have my ringer on low all the time because i can always hear it, same with speaker, medium low most of the time cuz its loud, lol.....enjoy the phone!

thanks jayz1367, actually i don't have the phone..yet! lol...anyway, i actually played around with an a950 at circuit city and it was pretty awesome, im used to the new verizon menu's so i can't really complain about that..the ringer is loud!! very!! i also watched some V CAST clips and they looked good and i played wit the camera and camcorder, zoom on the camcorder is nifty lol..anyway about the ringtones, i was thinking to use the transflash and just put mp3 ringtones onto their, than send them in a message to a phony #, than it would obviously fail, go into failed messages and just save it to the phones memory and blah blah go get it and set as ringtone..i hope that works cuz i know for a fact it does on the E815 ☚ī¸ ...overall the phone...

AFAIK you can't use the failed msg method people have done on the E815, i think other people have tried it and it has failed on this phone, damn Verizon is stripping the phones completely nowadays.

How are you using Wal-Mart's website? I went into the music download area and tried different ways to save the sample music to my PC and/or send it to my phone and all I got were error messages that it couldn't be done.

i just saved the file to my computer as a .mid file (i think it gets converted to .qcp anyway, so you may be able to just leave it as .mp3), then emailed it from my yahoo email account to myphonenumber@vzwpix.com .... and voila, it showed up as a pix message and i saved the sound, let me know if you are still having trouble.

Are you paying for the files from Walmart? Because I can't get the sample to save. It has nothing to do with my phone - I can't find a way to get the sample music from Walmart's site to save to my PC.

you CAN use Bitpim right now to put MP3s on your phone. I have a few on mine so far.
It is still unsupported through Bitpim's main menu (you have to use the filesystem tab to do it, as well as transfer pics to and from the PC).
USB drivers for the a970/a950 can be found on HowardForums; so can instructions for placing MP3s on the a950.
I used CD quality MP3s (44kHz, 128kbps, 16bit, stereo, trimmed to 30 second lengths(voicemail picks up before then anyway), and it sounds really good too. 🙂
