Speaker Phone Reception?

While on my speaker phone lately the people on the other end have been getting feedback occasionally (they hear their own voice echo). Wondering if anyone else has experienced this at all or if something might be wrong with my speaker. Thanks

I see you posted back in October. Are you still having issues with this? I just got my A950 a few days ago and really like it. The speakerphone however works 50% of the time. Let me rephrase that: 100% of the time it sounds perfect on my end, but 50% of the time the people on the other end complain of severe echo back of their own voice, but my voice comes through fine. As soon as I take them off speaker and use the handset, the echo disappears. The other 50% of the time, the person on the other end doesn't even know they are on speakerphone. In just a few days I've become addicted to this feature, I sure hope I can iron out the kinks with either another A950 or through tech support. Anyone here care to comment if their A950 speakerphone is ...

I have had this problem ever since I got the Phone back in November. I sometimes place my finger over the mic while the other person is talking. It seems to work but what a hassle for such an expensive phone. And should this feature work without this issue occuring? Has anyone taken it to the Verizon Store to find out what the problem is?

On another note, is the Motorolla E815 or Razor able to be used as a modem for your computer?

Thanks for the responose.

I took mine in to a VZW store last night and the tech said there had been complaints of this issue and that Samsung is working on a software update. She didn't sound too sure of herself and I had the impression that she was just telling me what I wanted to hear, so who knows. She tried the *228 software update on my phone and said the handset sounded really bad and wasn't working, so they gave me a new phone (is this how they solve every problem - no wonder they have to charge for every little thing you want to add to the phones these days?!!!). On the new phone, I have only been able to test speakerphone a few times and it has worked great each time. I'll post back with more data as I use it more. VZW email ...

I spoke too soon. This new phone is doing the exact same thing as the last phone. Sometimes the speakerphone works great and sometimes not. I'll have a chat with Samsung in the next couple days, if they don't give me any promising news, I'll probably trade up for a VX8100. I'll post here what I hear from Samsung for those with similar issues.

I contacted Samsung and got the run around that they have never heard of this speakerphone echo issue. They verified that I had the current software, etc, and then they had me call Verizon. I called VZ and they laughed at Samsung's response that they had never heard of the issue before. The VZ tech recommended that for users that want to use speakerphone they should purchase the VX8100 over the A950 because of this issue. I could have used that tip before I opened this can of worms. I called Samsung back to inform them that VZ was telling their customers that the A950 phone is no good for speaker use. They forwarded me to a Level 2 tech agent... ooooo. Well Level 2 had coincidentally just got a similar complaint this morning, but before toda...

Guys,

I know what it is and you will be very happy I found this out !!

Ready ??

Okay here it is, it's very weird but it's in the earpiece design.

So take the phone out of the case and or just simply keep anything away from the earpiece..

Yes when you are on the speakerphone, the earpiece is doing echo cancellation and when something is near it it causes feedback and it sounds crappy to the other caller.

Being in electronics and I have done electronics design work, I would have never ever imagined, but thats it..

We have quite a few 950's runnign around our office and they are all perfect. They sucked when we had the case on..

We have figured out a way to use just half the case and keep the phone in the case without f...

Thanks for the tip Craig. I never had mine in a case, and so there was nothing ever obstructing the ear piece. The echos were reported both when I had the phone open and closed, with the volume turned all the way down, and my finger over the mic. All these band-aids didn't do the trick for me on two different A950's. Verizon has repeatedly told me that they know of the issue, Samsung denies it, but Verizon thinks this issue should be resolved in future software updates. They even said that this was never an issue when the A950 was first released, and that it has only been in the last month or so that they've been hearing complaints, so maybe a software update messed up the mic filter, who knows. I'm hopeful it will be fixed. I'm glad your p...
