here's a really odd (and stupid) question.

I do not have a clue about the MP3 portion of this phone. Can anyone provide me with basic information on this? I never had a MP3 player and to tell you the truth, I am not even sure of what it is! I know it plays music...I like this phone and the MP3 player sounds like something I would really use. Any information on this portion (and other portions ) of this phone would be helpful. Thanks!

I know with the 8100 I too was totally lost as there is no directions in the manual how to use this. It can be very frustrating. Anyway....I can try to help as much as I can. I do not have the 950, I have the 8100, but some of the steps are identical.

First, you need to buy a MicroSD/Transflash card if you don't have one already. You put the card into the phone and format it (Menu-Settings & Tools, 4. System-4. Manage Memory-then choose options at the bottom of the screen, which will give you the option to format the card).

Then take the card out of the phone, put it into a card reader (which plugs into the USB port on your PC). It will bring up the folders for your card. Open the MY_MP3's folder. Drag MP3's that you have save...

First you need to google mp3 if you don't know what one is.

Then you need to rip some cd's into mp3 format on your computer using something like itunes or windows media player.

Next purchase a trans flash/micro sd card for the phone at someplace like best buy.

You DO NOT need to format the card like the person with the 8100 said, the menu functions they described don't exist in the A950. Put the card in, power cycle the phone and your card is formatted.

Then take the card out and put it into a card reader attached to your pc (when you go buy a card people at like best buy or wherever you get it they can explain the reader to you) Some computers have a reader built in so check if youre does first.

Then you open up the My_mp3 f...

Where did you get the adapter? I went to Radio Shack and was told the adapter they have might not work on the phone correctly because of the alignment of the rings on the jack. I have a FM Modulater (trasmitter) that I am dying to use but can't until I have the adapter.

Thanks!!

I got the adapter at radio shack and when used sound only came out one side of the earphones and not the other, so I had to return the adapter. Guy at radio shack said I may have to get special headphone that will work with the samsung, anyone have any suggestions?

I ordered the Samsung adapter for $5.99 from Buy.com about two weeks ago but it was back-ordered. Just got an email from them yesterday that the adapter was shipped. I've always found Buy.com to be fairly reliable. They kept me up-to-date on status and some patience paid off. It still shows back-ordered as 11/2 but they may not have updated their site.

Got the adapter today and works perfectly. I use it with a set of Sony phones and the sound is amazingly good, very loud and clear. This is not meant to replace my iPod but on weekends, I'd rather not have to carry my phone and iPod together. So the MP3s on the phone will more than suffice for weekend use. Really nice setup.

I just ordered the 2.5->3.5 mm jack (AETS43CSEB/STD) from http://www.mobilizenow.com/. After speaking with Brian, I learned that these things have been selling out all over the place in just the last 2 weeks or so - coincidentally with the release of the a950... He had just gotten a resupply of 20 units yesterday (11/7).
