Does anyone have any thoughts on which of the two above mentioned phones are better? I am deciding between them . The one thing that bothers me about the e815 is the echo that people complain about. I know the rest of the phone is excellent. How is the SCH A950?

I'm probably going to be in the minority, but I wasn't all that impressed by the Motorola e815. The following are my opinions and information that I was told.

1. I didn't like the sound quality on the e815. I couldn't stand the fact that my voice would always come out through my earpiece; I'm aware that some other Motorolas have this same sound, so perhaps this is just design. I was under the assumption that it was simply a fault in the design, but I tried phones from several batches and each had this "problem" (in quotes as this may not bother some). This was the defining reason for me returning the phone.

2. The phone didn't feel like it was built very well. The buttons felt a little weak, and it just didn't feel like it would...

You spoke briefly about the reception. What I neglected to ask was what you thought about DROPPED CALLS with the Samsung. I have a LG6100 and it is CONSTANTLY dropping calls. I need to change SOON!

I've yet to drop a call with this phone, but I've only made approximately a dozen calls, so that that with a grain of salt. I can say this: It seems to be fairly comparable to the Samsung 530, which I previously owned. And that got very good reception, rarely dropping a call (I'd really only drop calls in areas that EVERYONE would drop in, and this was very infrequent). The 530 had superior reception to any LG I've encountered, based on my experience using the Samsung in the same areas that other people would use LGs.

I completely agree with you about the poor call quality of the E815. The constant hearing myself and feeling like I was talking into a tin can Killed my experience with the phone. And it is not the speakphone echo that bugs me. Although that is a problem I just can not stand talking into the phone regularly. Using my BT headset was the only saving grace for the phone. I had a samsung sprint phone for 3 years and loved it but switched to verizon because I moved to DC. I hope to switch to the A950 and regain some confidence with my verizon service. Thanks for the information.

The 815 is a horror with the echo problem. It does not echo when the speaker phone is not used. It works great with the wired ear piece or just on the phone ear piece alone. I have had 3 of the 815 phones so far and the problem with serious echo to the person called is still terrible. If you can avoid using the speaker phone feature on the 815, I can say the phone will be great. Its camera, video, function are outstanding (other than the echo!).

i can't give you input on the 950 but I can tell you how much I cannot STAND the e815.
If you have had a phone other than a moto and get a moto you will be greatly frustrated. It is not an intuitive phone. Is very klunky and has limited options in comparison to my Samsung 670. I had an LG 9800 for a week but it didn't have a case and i wasn't comfortable with just a holster for a $400 phone. When I got the e815 the 950 wasn't out yet. So I will spend yet another 3 hours in a Verizon store but i would truly advise AGAINST a motorola phone. There is nothing nice about this big awkward phone and it also gets worse reception than the LG did.
