Bitpim software not detecting phone?

I have the VX9800, with a USB cable and the Bitpim software. Has anyone else had trouble with the software not detecting the phone? If so please help.

My phone also has a 512MB memory card installed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I don't use the usb or bitpim, I find it easiest to just use the card reader. Sorry I can't help.
