Switch from 8100?

Does anyone have a reason why I should switch from my 8100 to the 9800? I don't have to do anything with wireless sync (or at least I haven't done anything yet with that). I DO text a lot, but I'm pretty used to the T9 Mode and can text fairly quickly with my 8100.

I have had numerous 8100s as no one seems to want to listen to me @ the store and they keep switching out my phone. All the problems I had were fixed with the software update (V04) EXCEPT the fluctuating earpiece volume (I have it set on High w/ Auto Volume off).

So, opinions?

Thanks!

P.S.
I was told through Customer Service that I'd be allowed to get the 9800 and pay the difference.

I returned my 8100 after one week's use due to the low earpiece volume. The 9800 had laready been announced and I decided to wait for the release rather than try another 8100. I am glad I did. My initial call to try and activate the phone was quite clear and at an acceptable volume in my house which is typically a low signal zone.

Gee, thanks! I’m still undecided as to what to do. I saw the “dummy” model, they didn’t have the working one yet. How do you feel about the screens (especially external) compared to the 8100. I use wallpapers and I don’t want the downloaded wallpapers to have those white bars, you know what I mean, like the wallpaper doesn’t fill up the whole screen. Anything else that you would recommend about the phone over the 8100. Is it worth me paying an extra $150 (I paid $199.99 for the 8100)? Thanks!

I don't use wallpapers so I don't know about the white bar issue. I thought the 8100 external screen was a bit small but all I need thge external screen for is to see who is calling or check the time. I also like the text preview mode and neither phone had too small of a screen to work in that capacity.

This phone seems to be solidly constructed and I expect to get a lot of miles out of the auio/video capabilities while I commute to and from work. I couldn't really justify the extra cost other than the fact that I wanted a new toy to play with. A statement that was met with quite a bit of criticism from my wife (grin).

Thanks for all the info. Oh, one other question, if you don't mind. It's about the speakers. I know it has the dual speakers inside the phone. What about when the phone is "closed"? What does the sound come out of, and does it sound any different than when the phone is open (and also the sound from the speakers compared to the 8100)

Thanks again!
