Is it silly....

Basically for me I would be getting the 9800 for looks...I send text messages, but not a whole lot during the month...although this might change if I had an easier way to input (keyboard)...so basically is it silly for me to get this phone.....I have a Pocket PC which I use for mobile web browser and emails, so again this phone would be just a phone with a really nice way to input TXT messages.....thoughts?

That depends...

I'm looking at the 9800 myself. I don't do much text message work, but I'm looking at it because of Wireless Sync and because I can use it as an EVDO modem with my AXIM.

Why Wireless Sync? I really don't care about e-mail -- I have a PDA for that, but I really do want my Outlook to sync my contacts and calendar over the air. I've tried the Blackberry, and Audiovox 6600 and the Treo. They work, but, I'm always stuck with either a PDA that's trying to be a phone, or a phone that's trying to be a PDA.

This way, I can have two devices, that can sync, but the one thing the Treo and Audiovox did well, can happen on my phone.

We'll see -- I have the luxury of trying one out for a month for before I choose (the compan...

I looked at the 815, but much therapy (a former 710 owner here), I'm a little concerned about what I saw as far as build quality. It may be a great phone, but I've had too many problems with Moto.

Really, I heard that about LG -- I guess its who you talk to.
