Buyer Beware: Non-standard RS-MMC card slot!

Just a heads-up to potential 6681 / 6682 buyers: the "RS-MMC" card slot in the 6681 and 6682 (and also 6680 and 6630 for Europe/Asia) is actually a low-voltage slot that it NOT compatible with standard RS-MMC cards!

Normal RS-MMC cards will fit, but won't work.

So this phone requires special low-voltage RS-MMC cards from Nokia, or the new MMCmobile cards, which are dual-voltage.

Not many people are aware of this, since Nokia (shamefully) is not publicizing it at all. So I wanted to get the word out before people make the mistake of buying the wrong cards for this.

In addition to the longer battery lifespan that Staga mentioned...

Dual Voltage cards also have a higher theoretical transfer speed of upto 52 MB/s. Current typical transfer rates are around 20MB/s READ and 15MB/s WRITE for dual voltage cards)

They're also backwards compatible AFAIK.. SO you can use your DV RS-MMC card in an older RS-MMC based appliance (phone/cam/card reader) or in an MMC appliance with an adapter.

Thanks for the info, in an industry that morphs continually you really do need a score card to identify the players.Of course any form of standardization would be anathema. 😉
