Problems with V635
I was reading some of the posts at Howard Chui's site. Some people are having problems with the phone. They lock up, restart by themselves, dont have all the functionalities available. They had to SEEM edit or tweak their phone to get to work properly with Cingular. Now my question is, all of you that have the phone, does it work like its supposed to. I am about to buy it and I dont want to regret a $275 decision. Does the text indicator work well, does the voicemail indicator? everything works like it should or did you guys have to edit your phones as well?

Mines been working fine. it froze up twice but that was because I had too many things running for too long. I've figured out what I can run and how to run them so my phone won't lock up. Other than that, no worries!

If you flash to the 6FR firmware, you'll have 0 problems. My 24R firmware was weird sometimes it'd freeze (very occasionally) and I didnt like how it didnt have american english.
6DR was bad because I got weird texts after I checked my voicemail.
88R seemed to have slightly laggy menus.
So I flashed to the 6FR monsterpack, and the 0003 language pack, and I love it now.

my v635 doesn't give me an indicator anymore if i receive a voicemail or text message an di have no idea what to do. It looks like if I flash to the 6R firmware or 24 R it would help but i have absolutely no idea how to do that, can anyone help?

This may be due to changing your ringstyles. Go to your settings -> ringstyles (mine is set to loud) -> ringstyle detail -> Voicemail.
If that doesn't help, try going into the message center and hitting the top center key to get into the message settings. Then go to voicemail settings and make sure "Notification" is set to ON.
That will probably take care of it, but if you're still interested in modding, head over to howardforums.com for info on flashing your phone.

I guess it would have been better to read the forum more then the reviews because I missed that post. I hope people are not missing these posts and can make an informed choice.
