V635 is dead

Motorola was unable to sell the V635 to a carrier in the U.S. Which is why it is off the Motorola U.S.web site and why the description changed on this site.

After all the problems with the V600 and it being ultimately dropped by AT&T and Cingular, no one wanted to chance new problems with the V635.

Other than data posted on a third party website, do you have any proof, actual proof, from any carrier or direct from Motorola that confirms what you just stated, or is this just your "opinion"? And if this phone has so many problems, why have none been posted here on this site, or any other site for that matter? And why have so many international carriers (Rogers, Orange, Vodafone, T-Mobile) picked up this phone if that was true? Rogers in Canada just released it a few weeks ago.

If you read my posts, you would see that I called Motorola USA and they confirmed that it will not be coming to the US. Cingular rejected the V635, thats why Motorola took it off of their hellomoto.com USA website!

Very interesting. If this is such a great phone, why would Cingular reject it?

Because it isn't a great phone. It failed field tests for Cingular. Not much different than the V600 problems which required the old AT&T and Cingular to drop that phone.

This would seem to make sense of the events that have surrounded the potential issue of this phone on the market. Also we have had one recent posting that new software for this phone is eminent--typical Motorola. We .have been told that cingular rejected the phone and that caused Motorola to pull the v635 off the USA web site and possibly replace it with the v235.

I want to throw this idea into the discussion and see what others on this forum think. Suppose that cingular did reject the phone due to some failed tests ...

This is the best phone I have ever had (save for the battery life). I have no idea why Cingular wont stock the phone, I'm sure it will go like hotcakes.

I think cause its the same thing as the V600 series with a few extra features and with the same operating system, and no difference in design except the outside. Also, maybe with the 850MHz band problem like with the V600.

The V635 is very unreliable on the 850 band which is the same problem both AT&T and Cingular had with the V600. That's why Cingular decided not to carry the phone and why Mororola dropped it from the U.S. market. That means that the phone is not supported by Cingular or Motorola in the U.S.

If it is so unreliable why do all the reviews say different? 😕

How do you know this? Are you a Motorola or Cingular tech? What else do you know about this phone? I am very curious because I am not only very interested in buying this phone, but I am also a Cingular customer.

Does anyone out there who owns this phone and is with Cingular having any such problems?

The V635 simply didn't pass when tested by Cingular. Very much like the V600 which Cingular and AT&T had to drop. Cingular didn't want to go through that again. The V635 is dead in the U.S.

yep. I called also, even though I am a T-Mobile customer and not intending on switching to Cingular, but a sales rep said they were going to have it soon. I called last month. Unless, the higher people haven't told them the bad news. Plus it might still be in there inventory systems.

problems or no problems i can not wait around for cingular to make up there mind so i have already ordered the v635 from tigerdirect.com for $339.99 plus $24.95 for second day shipping, not a bad deal. cingular seems to find a problem with every phone, take for example the a630 and s710. cingular likes to hold out on releases if ever releasing the phone at all. reasoning behind this is unknown but the excuse i always seem to hear is that they are still "testing" the phone. if they testing so much they wouldn't have so many problems with the phones they currently stock, take the the lg1300 for an example. quit making excuses and stop trying to sell the v3, bring out some new phones in that same price range with more features cingular.
