Does anyone else think that this is a TERRIBLE Phone?

Its a great PDA but the phone is terrible. Can't adjust the backlight that goes out to soon. PHONE KEEPS TURNING OFF........ARRRGGGGHHH!!!!! 👿 Cant tell if I've had a "missed call" unless I happen to check call history. Speed dial doesn't work properly. Can't insert a 'Pause' into my saved numbers. Completely awkward to talk into, although THAT I was expecting. Side buttons keep activating recorder and Volume, every time I try to hold it as a phone. Disabled RECORD button. No option to disable Volume toggle. No ringer IDs. What the h*ll? Its like Samsung didn't even design the phone portion of this. They left out options that they normally include on all their other phones.

Was I a fool to think this would be a go...

1st: To adjust the backlight timeout, go to Settings>Power>Misc and then change your time.

2nd: Phone turns off if you use WIFI for hold the red END button too long (this follows power function on any standard phone).

3rd: You can see if you have a missed call by looking at the top of your today screen, you will have a bubble up top if you have a missed call or voicemail. Tap the bubble and it will tell you what you have.

4th. To insert a pause, just type a 'p' in your phone number input for that contact.

5th. Hold the phone from the back, but by the front screen edges, not the edge with the buttons.

Any other problems. This is an amazing phone that Samsung has released. A phone can not contain everything in the world. ...

I ditto RYCO's message. The more I use it, the more I am pleased with the phone.

For the record button, I changed it to the Voice Signal program. It is still obnoxiously easy to hit, but I love the easy voice dialing.

The volume button is a little too easy to hit, but that can be a benefit when you want to turn the sound up.

I did have one problem I had to call technical support for. I could not get my wifi to work. After going through the menu and finding everything was set right, they had me do a soft reset, and now it works beautifully.

So far, I'm surprisingly satisfied and in awe of the features.

1. The bubble can also mean bluetooth headset is on or that phone is charging. It's annoying to have to constantly check it with the stylus.

2. When you miss a call there is no recurring alert, same with TM's.

3.If bluetooth headset is off and you get a call you can not turn on headset and push button to answer.

4.can't voicedial from BT headset

5. everytime you try to use arrows to scroll on a web page the stupid mini keyboard pops up.

6.when the backlight is not on it's impossible to see letters/numbers

7.when typing in a "mobile number" in contacts, keypad does not default to numbers, you have to hit Fn then the number for every number

8. can't figure out how to select given word when using keyboard with one hand wit...

I'm with RYCO, it's the Indian, not the arrow! -This phone kick butt! I have pauses inserted on all my VM boxes (mobile, work, etc). Insert 2-3 P's after whatever number (I think RYCO covered this). The speed dial, as well as the voice dial (by name, or number) works like a champ! -How easy is it to dial by voice when you are in the car, and then once the call is connected have it go to hands-free through BT? And what is the big deal about ringer IDs? You can download virtually any sound file to your phone and use that as your ring (I went with a Pulp Fiction WAV file), or if you absolutelty must have "love is in the air" play when only your wife calls, you can download any number of custom ringer programs from virtually any Mobile PC ...

read my notes from over a week ago. Before it was released to the public!! I stated all the problems with the phone portion of the I730.

Samsung and verizon made a big error in releasing this without the phone quality in tow

The phone rocks, the only problem is the people who dont take the time to learn how to use all of the features. Testing can't fix ignorance.

Again, it's the Indian, not the arrow...

If you go to the settings window, there is a Backlight button. Click on that and adjust the timing. If the backlight does go off, just tap on the screen and it will come back on.

There's definitely some things that need some getting used to on this phone. You may want to spend a little more time figuring things out before throwing in the towel.
