Currnetly I have the Blackberry 7250 and it is a cool device but does not compare to the many features of the Samsung i730. I was wonder how much is the retail going to difer from the contract price. I am not due for a hardware updated until October. I guess I will sell my Blackberry 7250 for half of what it goes for in the store, I think thats a good deal.

P.S. Did everyone see the i730 on ebay for like $1100.00

I saw it, and I wonder if it will sell in 5 days at that price. I wonder what the timeframe from them being trained on the phone, to the actual release will be.

From A Verizon Stand Point, your friend needs to be careful about exactly what items he discloses to you, but I will say that I have played with this phone and it is an everything killer. Bye to Blackberry, bye to Treo. Phone is only slightly bigger than Treo, feels great in the hand. The main part doesn't just slide but kinda pops into place. It is a little small for a Pocket PC screen. But the size the device saves makes up for it.

I can not wait to buy this phone.

I'll be going to this person's house over the weekend to see the paperwork on this bad boy, but from what they said over the phone there WILL be a camera on launch, which will be in June. They had a non working i730 in their hands, and they were stating that the i600 and another phone were being taken off the shelves(treo 600?).

As for Wifi, I think they were a bit confused, as they are not saavy in that area the response I got was "We stopped offering it..." LOL so I explained to them what wifi was and they said "well, the trainer said something about releasing wimax, I don't know we just got done with 2 hours of training and my head hurts" ... I had to change the subject as our friendship was at stake... lol.

So, for all you conspira...

thanks for the update. I am sure they are going to sunset the 600 and i600. the prices have been lowered and in the verizon world that usually means the end of the show... I wish they would skip the camera and get this thing to market sooner... shoot us another update after you see the paperwork... you the man... 😁

I think it would be safe for me to say that again this is a very nice device. I CAN NOT "PUBLICLY" speak to devices that we have not released yet. I can say that the Treo 600 is going away. We are almost completely sold out of them. The i600 and 700 are listed as "closeout" phones. Make out of that what you will. Regular Verizon employees DO NOT go through device training until after a device is released, so this person's "friend" would have to be either Data Support or Customer Service of some kind. Notice he mentioned his friend being overwhelmed, this would indicate he is NOT Data Support, further; if he does have paperwork and shows it, it could cost him his job. I will say that I just saw this Device this morning. I held it in ...

eh, I was not told that I shouldn't be blabbing about this information, but since you've pinned my friend on the nose pretty much, I'll keep what I see to myself, and this will be the last time I post. I sure hope I don't cause any trouble.

I was not trying to be the Verizon Post Watcher General or anything. I just would hate to see someone get busted. As previously stated. I have actually used a real working model of this phone and have spoke at lenght to a few of the key players making this happen for Verizon. I have to be very careful what I say as I obviously work for the company myself. I know specifics, that to be honest I would be better off not knowing. Verizon is very particular about who gets the really good information, but I know a couple of people, and work in a good spot to see things. I would never say not to post. Just would not advise posting specifics. Heck Rich may even catch slack depending how evil people would want to get. Take care.

jdmountford --You are no doubt very informed and on the cutting edge (which I am sure most of us tech wantobes are jealous of) and with in your world of knowing before every one else that can be dangerous. But and I am sticking out my neck a bit -- in the world of marketing there is no more powerful tool than The word of mouth-otherwise known as -the buzz- and we are but players or better said the pawns of the marketers well coureate this dance of pre release and pump priming to get the buzz on the street. As you can see we all love to talk the talk and if it was critical an issue then all the Wireless tech support boys and girls would not have the phone on the leads desk to play with at will, which they have had for at least two weeks. Ha...

from a realistic standpoint wifi will more than likely NOT be offered since the i730 will support Verizon's Broadband Access. With wifi lazy people would have ANOTHER EXCUSE as to why they wouldn't want to pay for the broadband (That they can use almost anywhere on verizons network) and just use wifi (where they have to find a hotspot).

I'd bet the wifi doesn't make the cut. it contradicts with business.

I intend on using the broadband access, so the wifi doesn't really matter in my book one way or the other.

Well without WiFi this phone doesn't have too much going for it over the treo 650 (which i have a feeling will be about a $100 cheaper). But i do think your right, Verizon is notirous for deleting the stuff that makes you really want the phone in the first place. I guess we'll see.

Oh, and I don't think laziness causes people to forgo Broadband Access - they just aren't suckers.

I heard businesses want it for VOIP. Just heresay. However, Rich Brome, the owner of this site had something interesting to say about it when he spoke with Samsung at CTIA:

The Devices going through User Trials, While subject to change, do have WiFi, but do not have cameras. In speaking with higher ups there are no plans to remove the WiFi. Further, you guys are aware that even if it is "Disabled" if it is still in the hardware some brilliant deviant will find some way to hack it, such is the nature of things.

As of last week, my contact at Verizon, which is a National data manager for them, told me that the phone will be released via B2B channels in latter part of Q2, so likely in June. I also confirmed it will have BT, WIFI, EVDO, but camera is still up in air.

He informed me that product is in final testing, but all testing has gone well... and that this is one sweet product!

im not so much worried too much about the camera either haha... i have a camera phone now (the LGVX7000) and I rarely use it. But, I'm always checking my email from my phone via mob web because of business, so i figure it's time for me to upgrade to a PDA. I liked the Audiovox 6600 at first, but the bluetooth is horrible and doesn't support voice commands. It's just a wireless headset and data transfer. So, I'm going to wait for the i730

did you ever see the paperwork on this?? 😉 did your friend share any other nuggets on timing... I need to move and will have to give up on verizon soon if they don't get this or the treo 650 to market. my preference is the 730, but I may have to make the 650 work with goodlink... I am an enterprise customer so I hope the speculation that enterprise customers will get first dibs is right....
