Can I sign up for this 8100 pen-pal list, too? Mine JUST came today, and I'm scared even to open it! And I am SO confused about this Mp3 hacking job. SO MANY posts have been offered with SO MANY different ways to do it. But no one has discussed the ramifications of hacking. If I do hack into the player, will my warranty be voided? What is the best/easiest/most foolproof way to play my Mp3s? If VZW does come out with a music service, will a hacked phone be usable with that service?
Thanks to any and all who want to mentor us technophobes 🤭 😲 😁

I just want to say, the way I put MP3's on my phone was in no way "hacking" anything and will not affect the phone and/or warranty in any way. I am not a technical genius in any way shape or form and this method was so unbelievably easy, I could hardly believe I could do it!
Go to "My Computer" on your PC then to tools, then to folder options, then view, then make sure "hide extenstions for known file types" in UNCHECKED.
Then download all the mps's you want onto your desktop, right click on them and rename shortening the name of them then add .qcp (taking out the .mp3, your computer may tell you that by changing to this they may be unusable, just ignore this-press ok). Then click and drag the newly named songs from your desktop to y...

I bought a 256MB MINI SD card (SanDisk brand) from Best Buy for $47.00 and it came with the adapter, which allows it to be put into a reader.

The latest version of WIndows Media Player has the ability to rip cd's to mp3's. The itunes are more complicated. You must first burn a music cd of the itunes songs and then rip them from the cd to mp3's.

You are mistaken about itunes. It is the simplest thing to use. Of course it works better on a mac. You should be able to create a playlist and convert them to mp3's. Or change you preferences to import them as mp3's. Then using a blue tooth device or cable you should be able to sync them to your phone just as the ipod users do. 😁 I hope this helps.

there are many programs that will convert songs to mp3, some ways are if you have a sound card on your computer most likely it came with a program that will convert to mp3, or wav or whatever you want, if you have Musicmatch or Creative software or i believe windows media will do it as well.A neet trick if you have Creative sound card is to use the Creative Recorder, record any sound you can play on your compter no matter what it is, saves it as a wav file, then use Creative playcent er and convert to mp3, Also many people on here have talked about Audacity, free program! also works well especially for editing mp3's for ringtones.

Quick question on the mp3 format vs mid or qcd. I downloaded some mp3 from www.mp3ringtones4u.com and loaded them to my phone via bitpim. I left the extensions .mp3 and did not have a problem playing them on my phone. Is it better to change the extension to .mid or .qcd? Does it change the file size in any way? I also have some .mid on my ringtones and they play fine too. But the .mid ringtones I sent them as pix missages from the website, I think they must format it to .mid in order to send it as a pix (I saved as my sound and then moved to my ringtones with bitpim)

1)Are you saying that you were able to use: an mp3; mid; or a qcd as a ringtone? if so how?

2)How were you able to send a mid with a picture? Each time that I try it fails. Did you shorten the file length(time)?

3)Did you already get the software upgrade?

I'm not firmiliar with (bitpim) could you explain please...

1)I used the website http://www.mp3ringtones4u.com/ and download and save the mp3s, then use bitpim to save them as ringtones. The files are usually about 250kb or so, so I can only save maybe 7 or 8 to my phone.

2)On the same website that I mentioned above, you click on "how to send files to your phone", then "ringtones", and it takes you to a website called funmobile.com. From there you can browse and send midi, mp3*, qcp, aac*, mmf, m4a, wav, amr formats and it will be a a pix message on your phone. I have only tried it with .mid. It's been a while but I believe I first played it, then saved it to my sounds. I am not sure if you can move it from my sounds to my ringtones with bitpim. I do not change the length or extension. I...
