How to get rid of the Verizon Banner?
I heard it was possible and searched 9 pages of forum posts but i was wondering how to get rid of the verizon banner from the vx 8100?

it is under settings display and then I believe eri banner and you can turn it on or off Hope this helps

Phone Freak2 is correct... but if you travel much, I don't recommend it as it is designed to let you know if you are picking up VZW's network or an extended network (which means you are roaming). Of course, if you have an America's Choice plan instituted after Feb 2005, then roaming doesn't matter because those plans don't incur roaming charges.
The complete path to turn off the ERI Banner is:
Settings & Tools>Display>Banner>ERI Banner
(Don't aske me what "ERI" stands for exactly, because I havn't a clue, but I suspect the "R" stands for "Roaming"???)

Turning the ERI banner off does take the "Verizon Wireless" off of the screen, but not the red bars!
