Hx, got the Motoe815 diastolic it ok but it was too big for my hand. Exchanged it for the LG8100. It is an upgrade from the LG6000 which I really liked but wanted to have blue tooth.
I love everything about the 8100. I hear the other person just fine and the blue tooth works well too. The problem I have is when I start to speak I hear myself talking..it is beyond startling! I have been in the house, outside, in the car and the same thing happens. It is terrible. I tried to turn the volume down and it didn't seem to make any difference. Is this a problem found widely with this phone or is it maybe this particular handset. A few years ago when I had the horrible LG510 I had this problem..with two of those phones.
I have a few minutes of talk...

check the ver on your phone do you have 6 or 7 ? If you do not have 7 then get it flashed with that it may help. I do not really have that problem to speak of, once in a blue moon and have had the phone for a month. I was having rebooting problems but my phone came with v6 when I went to v7 it has not rebooted since. Hope that this helps What headset are you using?

Thank you for your reply and suggestions. As to the version...it looks like it 6...on the SW Version "page see T81VZV06. Is that telling me it is the 6?
My phone paired easily with the Motorola HS850.
When you say "rebooting problem" can you explain that more as I am not quite sure what that means..maybe my phone has not done that.
Thanks..

I've had the echo problem now and then (maybe 3 times total so far) using NO headset... just the regular phone. Kinda weird... like my voice is bouncing off the tower at me. It's usually due to certain conditions (weather, EMI, etc.) I *think* since it's always cleared up after a minute or two... odd though.

And yes, I was one of the first on v7 🙂

See my first response to irishlass. It's known as side-tone. It most likely is not an echo

This is NOT the normal amount of feedback that is built into phones to feel "normal". This is after a second delay hearing your own voice clearly come back... like talking into a canyon. The other side doesn't hear it, but it's highly annoying when it occurs. Thankfully it's rare and only seems to occur under odd tower conditions and such.

HI, EVERYONE! 🙂
Thanks for all the insight and suggestions. This past Monday I took the 8100 back to the store and checked all the selections and came away with a new 8100. So far so good I am happy to say! I have not had any of the "feedback" or echo sound which was described earlier like talking in a canyon..sure is! 😳 And there has been no static either. It paired well with the bluetooth ear piece...and so far I have no complaints now.
My suggestion to anyone having any questions or problems with any phone after a couple days is don't wait...get back to the store and exchange it..all that fussing with flashing and whatnot just wastes time and is frustrating to boot.
One other thing.in our area most of the towers are Verizon...ther...

It's called side-tone. It allows you to hear yourself so you don't speak too loudly. All land-line phones have this. A good deal of cell phones have this as well.

Do you complain about this with your home phone as well? 🙂

Additional to my previous post. It may also be that you have the headset in too tightly, thus creating a "side-tone".

ADSisson,
Thanks for your helpful insight. When I have had the echo or feedback, I was not using the headset. And no, on our regular house phone we have not had that happen.
I should add that in addition to the echo, I also was getting a pretty fair amount of static on a regular basis. SO I took the phone back and exchanged it for another one. It paired up with the bluetooth with ease. Now to try this out.
The sales rep at the shop said if it continues to do this I should take it to the Verizon store and have it flashed.
Thanks to all who have tried to help and I will check back and let you know how things are working out.
