V-Cast Music Question...

I'm sorry if this question is a little "crazy" or "stupid" but I don't know if this is true or not cause I do not have V-Cast where I live... BUT:

Do you HAVE to have V-Cast to sign up or get the new V-Cast Music Download Service OR does it work just like downloading ringtones regularly without HighSpeed Service like EV-DO?

The reason I ask, and if the answer is YES, then I ask, if someone can agree with me, is WHY do you need V-CAST for this service? I mean, why advertise a service like this everywhere if everyone can't get it or ever have access to it? Cause I am really interested in V-CAST but it is impossible to get V-CAST where I am unless I travel at least 50+++ miles to get near it...

Yes, you need VCast to get MOD. I, too have no EV-DO in my area. Drive 15 Miles and I have EV-DO.

You'll need VCast to get MOD because MOD is part of VCast.

It's advertised everywhere because VCast is availiable in most of large cities and areas outside of those cities by about 15-20 miles.
It's also availiable near most major highways.
Where towers may be located.

Even if your not in a VCAST area, you can get the Music Essentials kit and put songs on your phone that way. You just can't download them directly from the phone-that you DO need VCAST service for. Also by putting them on your phone via the cable with the essentials kit, you DO NOT have to subscribe to VCAST.

Thank you both for your responses... Mary, once again you have come to the rescue. Thanks for clearing that up. I was not aware that I could get a kit to put the music on my phone that way...

One last question... if anyone catches this: Is it WORTH upgrading to V07 FROM V04 if you DO NOT live in a VCAST area?

I'd say yes. It does more than just add MOD. I haven't had the volume issue, but others on here say that the update fixes that issue. I, personally, always want the latest software available, and since you can turn the MP3 player back on so easily, why not get it?
