V07 updated. Tech surprised
I updated to V07 today and listened to the tech tell me about how my MP3's would be disabled. I tried to tell him that I was sure I could get them back and he was very smug and stood his ground since he was the tech and I was just a customer. After the update I did the secret menu trick and then the shortcut trick , hit the play button and Viola music. The look on his face was worth a million dollars. He asked "how in the hell did you do that" I said do what ,,, you said I couldnt do it and walked out. In all fairness the tech is pretty cool and has been very helpful in the past and I will probably tell him the next time I'm in the store.

Great story! I listen to a tech ramble on as well how VCAST music would take over my phone if I updated... I just shrugged it off and said..no problem buddy... you go right ahead and update!

The same thing happened to me when I called and asked if I could get the update on the phone before I drove there and they told me that it will not let me play MP3s anymore but I told them that is ok and I will do that fix after I get the update tonight. He also told me that they were told they had to tell everyone that wanted the update that this will happen and there is no way you can play MP3s anymore. The techs need to read this forums but could you see what would happen if they told someone that they could still play MP3s and then have to tell them how to hack there phone?

Isn't it even more funny that a tech was the one that took the time to think back to how things worked when software version 1 was in the phone, and then tried looking in the same place when they got version 4, 6, and 7...and wow....through a little trial and error, shared with the rest of the world how to turn the mp3's back on?
The information to do what you want with the phone is out there....all you have to do is be willing to put the time in to look for it...and also regarding the techs, not all of them are the most informed bunch. Some techs look at being a tech as nothing more then a paycheck....therefore they do what they have to to get through the day...then you have others that are connoisseurs (sp?)...that can tell you what th...
