Tiny scratches?

My phone is pretty new, so I was kinda surprised when I was getting ready to dial in the car today, and when I had the phone positioned a certain way (with the sun shining on it) I could see all these small hairline scratches all over the screen.

They really don't bother me all that much because you can't see them at all unless you tilt the phone in a certain light, but I just wanted to make sure they weren't going to get a lot worse and hinder the viewing of the screen. Has anyone else experienced this? I thought I was cleaning it pretty carefully too.

Anyway, I know this a pretty random question...but I guess it must be the little bit of OCD in me! πŸ˜‰ Thanks!

Yes, as a matter of fact, I have noticed the same thing, too. You're right, they can only be seen when held a certain way in the sunlight.

I've had to exchange several times and each phone has had it.

The two 8100s that I've had were clean when I got them. Of course, after the usual wear and tear they will develop scratches on the front screen. I've had mine since August and it doesn't look to be getting any worse. To answer your question, I don't think it's possible to keep the screen from getting scratched without some sort of cover-film. And no, I don't think they'll ever become so noticable as to block your view of the screen.

I am pretty OCD about things like this too. Have always user the leather case to protect the phone. Not attractive but it does protect.

OMG!!!!!!! I almost started a thread about this awhile back, but thought people would think I was nuts! I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought this. I've had two phones and they both developed these scratches on the inside screen on the bottom part where it is mirrored, almost as if it may be touching the OK part of the keypad when closed?????? I thought it was weird that it happened on both my phones, but started looking at my friend's phones who have the 8100 and so far all 6 that I have looked at have it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was blaming it on my OCD too, but glad I'm not the only one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for the post!

Lol, I am glad you guys are with me on this one! I was afraid I was going to get a few posts saying I was crazy and to get over it πŸ™‚

I have no idea what is causing it, but it's so weird, I have only had my phone for a week, but I guess it seems to be unavoidable so I can deal with it.

This might sound REALLY crazy, but I almost went to Best Buy to see if their model had the scratches because I was so bothered by it at first and thought it was just MY phone...

Thanks for responding and I'm glad I'm not the only one that notices (and sometimes obsesses) about these little things! 😁

im supprised not one of you has mentioned that most of us get a new phone and leave the protective film on and if it starts to peel off wash it with soap and warm water dry it good make sure all the lint is off and replace it on the phone to keep your screen nice. this seems to work wonerfully i live in portland oregon and most of us here do this 1 because phones are expensive and 2 we just want to keep our phones nice and also make sure not to touch the film after byou wash it the oil on your fingers will prevent it sticking ...ok 😁

i hate the fact that i had my 7000 for almost a year and neva got one scracht on the outside screen. i neva use a leather case and my phone was safe. my internal screen did get a scratch with the 7000 and i was pissed but got over it. my 8100 scratch is really pissing me off because everytime i look at my phone i see it and it looks deep like if i press hard i might crack the screen. i know it's not deep it's just the reflection of the scratch but it still pisses me off.

OMG!!! I thought I was the only one!!! I'm so OCD about my electronics it's sickening!! I'm still trying to find the rubber thingy that some folks got for their 8100 charger port. I about crap in my undies when the folks at Verizon rip the protective film off my screens!!! 😳 😳 😳 😲

Scratches on the LCD are inevitable with normal phone use. You can almost guarantee them if you clean with anything other than lens tissues or one of the "dust free" cloth thingy’s.

I swear by those PDA screen protectors. I have them on the outer and inner LCD. Plus my case has the clear covers for the screens.

WOW, you have made me feel so normal by reading :"I about crap in my undies when the folks at Verizon rip the protective film off my screens!!!". I thought I was the only one out there that had those issues...I think I scared the guy when I was like...why did you take that off, no, give me that! He turned red and apologized...lol...

You all are getting these scratches even with the case being on the phone? Or are you carrying the phone in your pockets, backpacks, and purses?

It's not from anything other than the phone touching the internal screen.

But that would entail there not being a case on the phone. My screen has plastic over it when encased

I know. We are talking about this happening w/out there being a case on it. Who said it was with a case on it? Of course it wouldn't happen with the case on.

I guess my question then is...if yall are so OCD about everything being protected (which I am also) why would you not use the leather case? I understand it isn't the most attractive thing on earth...but it protects it quite well.

The only thing about that is, at least with me, that I love the looks and feel of the phone and if I cover it up with a leather case and plastic coverings, then I may as well have any old cheap phone if I can't see it anyway. To me, my phone is more than just it's functions and making calls. I also hate that plastic covering on the screens and keys too, and I like to keep my phone in my pocket most of the time. I only have one small pin size scratch on the bottom of the inside screen on the mirrored part. I can live with that since I know it's happening on all of them.

here is a dumb therary, the scratches on the inside mirror bottom part of the phone might be from wearing earings?? press the phone against your ear and the earings might be scratching it just a little..just a thought..dumb thought maybe???who knows

No, it is from the OK button and the left and right directional keys hitting the bottom of the screen when it is closed. It is not from earrings as I do not wear earrings and my phone does not have these problems.

I'd rather have that tiny scratch then have plastic all over my phone or a leather case covering the whole thing up!
