for some strange reason i cant get one song to show up on the phone. its on the card , when its in the computer but it wont show on the phone.its in mp3 format.i even deleted a few songs off the card because i thought the memory was full. its a 512mb card,i have 96 songs on it, it can only hold about 98, only because some of my songs run 6 to 12 minutes. so if memory isnt my problem, and format isnt a problem ,what else could it be.

Could the file be corrupted maybe? when was the last time you heard it played on the pc?
...
i just played the song and it sounded fine. this has got me confused.
...
Delete it from pc and redownload it. Seems redudndant but thats what I would try.
...
Shoten the name of the song (xxxx.mp3).It worked for me
...
Shorten not shoten. Still early here.
...
Try re-converting it to an mp3 again. There was a previous thread where it was showing up as a mp3...but it really hadnt been converted correctly. Convert it again and maybe that will work. If you dont have a converter you can google it and find a free one
...
i tried that and it said that it cant convert to itself.
...
Did you try shortening the title (file name)?
...
that didnt work either. i just cant figure out why im having so much trouble with 1 song. its in mp3 format, i have enough memory , it goes on the card,it plays fine on my pc,i even scanned it with norton but the phone wont reconize it being there.

I too am having problems playing most of my mp3s. Although all my songs have the extension .MP3 I believe at some point I may have converted songs to Mp3Pro.
I tried to use Windows Media Player to convert the songs to their MP3 selection but it won't go through a conversion process. Says it is already MP3.
Anyone know of a good freeware program and optimal settings that will work with the VX8100?
Thanks.

maybe media player needs to be tricked in order to re-convert to mp3, if it see's the file extension as already being mp3 maybe it wont try to convert it, try changing file extension to something else, then convert, just a thought, shot in the dark.

I have noticed that songs from itunes won't play on the phone.
...
I've noticed that some songs just don't play at all. I have tried multiple MP3's that were all burnt from original disks and then more than one, from an entire CD, that is added to the phone doesn't work. I believe there is a problem with the media player itself on the phone.
...
How long is the filename of the song? If it's more then 42 characters, the phone won't play it.
