LG VX-8100
8100 = Junk?
The MP3 player and Mini SD on the 8100 really peaked my interest, but now it seems that they are junky.
The other negatives is the lack of the recordable ringtone (without using a hack) and lack of data cable.
Is the MP3 Player as junky as people are saying? Is the Mini SD basically useless?
Tell me why I should chose the 8100 over the 8000.
But that's why I have an ipod.
The blue tooth is the reason I bought the phone. It works great with the hands free link in my Acura. 😛
It's a cell phone kiddo. Maybe you should get a the Palmone Treo 650 if your looking for all the whistles and bells.
Good luck!
Thanks for noticing though. Shows you pay too much attention to detail or your underwear are on just a little too tight.

Glad to hear it works great, the main reason I am getting it is for the hands free in my Chrysler...
I paid $50 and got: LG 8000, case, car charger, head set.
It looks like the 8100 will be around $200 plus $60 bucks if I want to add on a mini-sd card plus I would have to buy a case, car charger, head set. So to go with the 8100 it looks like it would be over $300.
I just don’t see anything that justifies the $300.
What bothers me is that 2 of the things promised, an MP3 player and access to mini-SD data are now being taken off the table.
You can tell that LG, as one person on here stated, “Neutered” the phone and took off these features for Verizon.
I just think th...

But it's looking as if I'm not going to be able to use it as a ringtone...
I can't figure that out.
You can save it to the miniSD card, but it doesn't look like you can use it as a ringtone.
Let’s apply that same logic to the buying a car example I listed above. You go to a dealership and see a car you like. You get inside and see a slick looking radio/CD player complete with digital, detachable faceplate. You go to turn it on, and you get nothing.
You ask the salesman why they put a radio in the car if they aren’t going to enable it. His reply “ Hey, this is suppose to be a car, not a dance club. Use this car for driving, that is what cars are made for. If you want to listen to music in your car, go buy a boom box.”
Then you go...

I plan to send e-mails to Verizon just like we all did with the Moto V710 last summer.
What it seemed to accomplish was recalling some phones and getting them to upgrade the phone's software (eventually). Of course they also used that opportunity to further cripple the phones, but at lease some glitches were ironed out.
Sometimes I think Verizon loves us Phonescoopers who give them valuable feedback on their phones so soon after release (or even before 🙂 )
Heck they might even include us in their marketing schemes - kinda like:
In a flourescent lit conference room high up in Verizon's corporate tower, late one night in late winter of 2004 . . .
'OK guys, here's the gameplan: We release the specs on the phone be ...
