So I played with the phone in a CC store today..

I have the E815 and I am doing direct compares..

It's a very tough thing to do because they are both nice in alot of different ways.

The 8100 is very nice in your hand. It's small and built very well. The 815 is a little clunky and not nearly built as well but with that said.

The 8100 in the left hand and the 815 in the right showed the signal strength issues right away. The Moto has 5 bars the whole time I was there and the 8100 was 2 bars and once got to 3.. This is classic stub antenna poor design that LG keeps doing.

Their phone drop more calls than any other phone out and I was hoping that they would fix this with this phone. Keep in mind the phone was not activated so rea...

wow sumone has sumthing up their ass. i have had a vx-6100 and i have never had a dropped call, and my recpetion has been better than all my buddies many times. i think the 8100 will be just as good if not better as the 815, but in the end it all depends on what you want and use your phone for.

He has not had it to test long enough. I got my phone on saturday and can tell you this.

1). Clock can be adjusted to many different sizes just look in the menus.
2). So far reception has been very good on it, NOt much worse than the e815
3). Camera blows the E815 away
4). Voice command works great. Push the side button and it says say a command, Then you say call someone, next you say the name and it dials it.
5). Build quality smokes the E815
6). Speakers are much louder than the e815

I also have the e815 and so I can do a very good comparison, Check out the photos I sent in on Howardforums comparing the e815 and the vx8100. You should be careful about comparing phones when you are only playing with it in the store.

So it DOES have the driving mode then?

(I had the VX4500 for a very short period of time and thought that was a cool feature)

Driving mode is what was described above, whereby rather than just announcing the name that you prerecorded, you touch the side button (with headset) or you flip it open (without hs and the phone prompts you to make a call, etc. You say "call someone" (or "digit dial", or "contacts", etc)....then say the name, and then this weird alien foreign sounding computer voice says the name (recognized merely from how you typed it into your phone book!)...pretty neato....works 99% of the time for me (4650).

I've had an LG-VX6000 for almost 2 years and it has NEVER dropped a call. When I bought this phone, I compared it to many others at the time, and it had the BEST sound. The reason I'm considering the 8100 is because of the success I've had with the 6000!! And the quality is SUPERB!! 🙂

As I posted yesterday: I bought an 815 and returned it before I even got out of parking lot. Reception was fine - no echo. Speakerphone extremely low even in car with windows closed. Store 'demo' same. Vibrate - about 2 sec & very weak. Store 'demo' same. Voice couldn't dial voice or digit correctly, kept sending to text. Finally did dial but 1st of three numbers testing, but not the one I wanted. Store 'demo' same. Tested in store before I bought it but figured because of all the noise, it was a problem. Wrong!! Moto reception supposed to be better. I have a 6000 and always had 'pretty good reception'. Yes, dropped calls in some areas, but get the same with Nextel and Samsung. I
