Verizon Threw A Curve Ball!!!

Welp, not to be a downer here....but I just talked with a local verizon store and the guy was very arrogant. When I asked him about the 8100 he said, "uhhhhh, no ...we don't have that"..as if I were crazy and just pulling model numbers out of the sky!

When I queried him further he said, that phone isn't even in testing yet for verizon....

Either this guy's a real prick or he just started working there yesterday...or if none of those are the case, then there are a WHOLE lot of liars on this forum just trying to get everyone all excited over NOTHING.

Any thoughts???

My thought is this guy is like most of the reps that I have ran into lately and that is he is an arrogant a$$..They all seem to be very stuck up for what reason, I am very suprised.. They have no right or reason to be.
Well off my soap box now. 😈
I don't think he knows what he is talking about.. I was told by two guys at the Verizon Kiosk in the mall (whom were very nice) that they thought it would be out 7-21-05.. we will see...

Kind of hard to believe the July 21st date. There were so many people that were saying June 27th was THE date. And these were people who claimed to have contacts with people who DEFINITELY knew.

I don't really know what to believe anymore.

Come now, we've known for a few days the 815 will be out next Monday. Without Verizon saying anything about the 8100 yet how could you still have expected it today. Look for July 5th to be the soonest possible date, but don't be surprised if it comes and goes with no 8100 release.

Yeah, that guy sounds like he doesn't know what he is talking about. Maybe he's had a lot of people asking and it's getting on his nerves and the quickest way to get them to go away is to say, "I don't know."

I talked to someone last week and he said he didn't know anything about an 8100 and told me to check the website. Wow, that was so helpful.

Also, someone mentioned on here before that they aren't required to know what's coming, but only what is currently available. That person also said that not everyone keeps up with what's going to be coming out b/c some simply don't care.

Ha! That sounds like me too! I had a rep who said he didn't know anything about it, which I don't think he actually did. He said, "it's like the 8000 right?" I said, "No, actually..." He was like "Wow, thanks!". I told him about phonesccop and he went there and started talking about how neat the phone looked!

You've got a right to question everything now. I've been holding out for today too and I want this phone as bad as anyone here. (I got so sick of my malfunctioning Moto V710 that I went back to my VX6000, but then had to come back to the Moto for the bluetooth. That's why I need this phone so bad.)
You should keep in mind however, that although people said they were pretty sure about today being the date, no one knew DEFINITELY when it was coming out. The speculation was based on the rebate forms many have seen which are good from 6/20 - 8/28 and the fact that some Verizon reps who regularly post on here had spotted the phone on their approved devices list, equipment guide and/or infocenter. I work in a verizon store, and personally I'm not a prick. But from this side of the spectrum, we don't know when it is coming out either. Verizon won't tell us because they want us to sell the phones already in stock, not tell people to wait a month to see if the 8100 comes out. Personally this phone looks awesome, and I can't wait till it comes out either, but that doesn't make it come out any faster.

But, we do have the rebate forms in stock. Just no phone yet. Yet, Verizon is tricky and they didn't put a start date on this phone. The rebate from says "When you buy and activate a Verizon Wireless LG VX8100 Digital Phone now through August 28, 2005" and thats it.

Have fun waiting you guys, we're doing the same.

Honestly, I do get annoyed with people calling or asking about new phones coming out. I'm sure as soon as we know, everyone on the forum will know soon b/c there are enough reps/customer service people on these forums to let everyone know. Most of the stores have received the rebate forms, as my store has. I've heard only that it has passed testing and is going into production now. So I'm guessing in about a month they will be coming out. I'm anticipating this phone just as much as anyone else. The cruddy part is that all consumers will be able to get the phone before employees. We have to wait until it goes up on our website to order it which takes about one week to three weeks. Then we can have it shipped which takes a few days. Then event...

Im not looking forward to the employee phone plan. I hear we have to email a separate employee service center to get problems fixed. I hear its hell.
