Has no one else had problems with previous motorola phones? i had a cheaper model 2 years ago and what a piece of crap! My friend currentl has a more expensive model for cingular and is on his 3rd phone=another piece! The phones were never abused either! i've fallen in love with samsung's e715 and never had an LG but i hear mixed reviews about them!

I'm looking to get the lg 8100 when it comes out but the Samsung a970 has also sparked my interest. After my bad experiences with motorola i cant bring myself to buy another one of their phones in fear it wont last a year even tho they are attractive phones!

any clarifications or suggestions...

thanks! 😁

thank you!!!i thought it was just me but i had the motorola v600 and it was horrible!!!!i had to take it in five times cause it was so sensitive, somtimes it just went on and off for no reason!!!!!!!then i started hearing from other customers that it motorola had the worst phones!!!when i saw he v710 i almost passed out laughing, seen the size of that thing?it looks like a tv remote circa1988!!!!!and if the 810 is just a modified version of the 710 count me out!what i am peronally gonna do is take the vx 8100,im assuming it will come out beofore the samsung a970,then when the samsung comes out i will probably get it and sell the vx-8100....!but yeah i will not even look at a moto for a long time!!!!

I've had an LG vx4500 for about a year and half now. No problems whatsoever, although the signal and reception have deteriorated a bit. But it's still a good phone in the end. Reliable, not just the service but also the phone.

you talked about buying the 8100 and then selling it and getting the a970. Don't Verizon phones lack a Sim card??? How would u sell your phone and activate the a970 when it came out???

thanks!!

CDMA phones don't use SIM cards. AFAIK thats pretty much the domain of GSM phones.

How do you activate the a970? Easy, if you are a regular customer either have a store/agent do an ESN change for you, or call customer support and have them do it. Those of us that are agents do it ourselves... 😎

thanks for that! i know a good deal about phones but do get confused wit the GSM and CMDA and who has what.

do they charge u to transfer that if i had to do it for verizon??

is there a known benefit of having GSM over CDMA or the way around??

thanks

I change phones all the time, either by giving my phone to one of my kids or purchasing different ones If I find something I like better.. Verizon has never charged me for changing the esn number for me. They are really good about it and very helpful.
I have had mostly good luck with CS with Verizon.. just a couple of bad apples in the bunch, but that is better than most places I have seen and heard about.

There is no charge to change ESN.

Benefits of GSM vs CDMA? Well it really boils down to the benefits of one provider over another. Cingular is GSM, Verizon is CDMA. If you want Verizon you must have a CDMA phone, there is no choice.

Generally speaking in terms of the technology related to cellphone communications CDMA is considered by most experts to be superior to GSM - this is the main reason the Chinese decided a year or so ago to go with CDMA instead of GSM as in Europe.

I pretty much hate the 710 as well. TV remote circa 1988? Well that's a little far fetched. It's a little bulky, and a little heavier than many phones, but it's not that bad.

What DOES suck about it... well, I hate the buttons, all mashed together (although a fairly common feature on phones these days); The menus are rather non intuitive; The animated backgrounds don't even animate, (don't care too muhc about that); I can't hold it easily in my shoulder like I could with my last cell phone...

But most importantly, it's the ONLY bluetooth verizon phone, and it barely works with my Jabra bt800 headset! Grrrr. Anyone using this combo knows that it's a frustrating exercise getting them to work together before each session. Kinda...
