Just a quick note: we got e-mailed the mail-in rebate for the 8100 today, good sign there. Also, I have seen in the "Verizon Approved" thread that some markets have the 8100 listed on their "Approved Handset List" in info center. I am in Upstate NY and we have not seen that yet. Our (Up NY's) "Approved Handset List" was last updated on the second. Let me know if anyone has a more recent update!
...
Just got off the phone with verizon cs and was told that there is no information yet.
The rep did let it slip that she attended a meeting about the phone because of all the inquiries. I'm still betting on the 27th though.
...
I called CS yesterday (06-14-05). I mentioned to them that I knew the 8100 was not on the "Coming Soon" list. However, there is a list of "Approved Devices". Why these lists are different, I don't know - I'm just a customer. However, when I called yesterday, I asked them to check the "Approved Devices" list. The man I spoke with said that it WAS on the "Approved Devices" list, but not on the "Coming Soon" list. He said once it's on the "Coming Soon" list, the device (in this case, the 8100) usually is out in about a month. I'm just telling you what was relayed to me. I'm in the Maryland/DC/VA area.
Hope this helps! 😁

I know some people are saying its on the list and others are saying it's not. I'm wondering how often the lists are updated.
Which part of the MD/DC/VA are you in? I'm over by Dulles airport.
...
as of the 6-10-05 update list ofr approved handsets the vx8100 and samsung i730 are listed. There are no phone launch docs yet, however. To answer the previous question, the difference between approved and coming soon is approved means that it's cleared the FCC and Verizon for testing and possible release. Coming Soon handsets have cleared all phases of testing and are ready for release pending packaging, accessories, marketing, etc...
vzw22, your updated list for 6-10 should have the phone, especially if I have it in Tucson, AZ you should in NY.

Our (Upstate NY) device list was updated on the 2nd of the month, no updates since, and the 8100 is not on there. Wonder when they are going to update ours?????
...
hopefully before the 2nd of the month. maybe east coast eroes is slacking a$$ and waiting a week or two. Since VZ is HUGE on the east coast I would thing you would have it b4 us......
...
I am a couple hours south of where you are (you said you were near Dulles airport).
😎
...
By the way, I don't know which area I am considered. One lady (about a week ago) checked the Northeast area when I had called (not on the list at that time). I don't know if I fall in NE or South. I'm guessing NE since that's the one she checked based on my area code. All I know is that when I called yesterday, whatever area the man checked, it was there ("Approved Devices" list, not "Coming Soon").
😉
...
I just checked the South area Approved Device list, and the 8100 is on there. My best guess is end of month.

Mine was updated on 6/10/05 that's when the 8100 popped up
...
I would think this phone has got to be coming out soon because who's buying the 8000? That phone looks dated just sitting on the shelf.
...

I was in the Verizon store and the sales rep was telling someone about the 8000 nd the EV network, but then he also mentioned the 8100 is going to released sometime in the future.
It didn't seem like the rep was trying to push the 8000 very hard.

It is not on my Approved list. I am in the Pittsburgh, PA market and my last update was 4/7/2005 😢 😢 😢 😈 😈
...
It is on my approved handset list here in Portland, OR. which was again updated 6/10/2005.
...
does it say at all when the plan to be released is going to be? Or anything about a rebate or price of the phone?
I live near Spokane Washington and your the closest to me so far that has said it is approved.
However, I spoke with a verizon rep on the phone today and he said he has no idea when the phone is coming out, he said he is also waiting for this same phone.. he did say if this is the one that I want, it would be worth the wait..
...
Weirdly enough my rep told me she already had it on order. Funny. It should be due out during our launch and I don't think we are the only market launching. Seattle is supposed to be done at the same time, but thats no guarantee. All VZW employees are under lock and key from the legal department about any information on this EV-DO launch and the equipment launching but the date everyone thinks isn't a bad guess from what I hear.
...
Do you work for Verizon? I know you probably can't say much as that is what I am getting from most CS of Verizon. But, What do you think of the area of Spokane Washington? Would it be good for me to wait until the end of the month for this phone or should I just bag it and get a different one?
What is your personal opinion?

Can you tell us how much the mail-in rebate is?
...
Yes, please what is the rebate amount if you know? Do you also know how much the phone will go for?
Hope you don't mind all the questions.. Were just all so excited about getting this phone.. 😁 😁

vzw22Jun 16, 2005, 10:33 AM
The one I got was for $50. Strange...thought it would be $70. Maybe a good sign that it won't be TOO expensive perhaps????

Thanks, I'm hoping with the rebate combined with my $100 towards a new phone (as my contract expires in July), I can get this phone for about $100 out of the pocket.
...
Where did you get a mail-in-rebate from? Haven't seen one anyplace?
...
Again how much was the rebate? 🙂 & what were the dates on there it was good through? That would be a good hint on the release date! 😁 I don't have it on Info Center?
...
I talked with one of my higher ups today and we were talking about my phone (lg8000) and how I was looking forward to the 8100. He said one of his counterparts was still testing it, but was very impressed so far. i then mentioned how I and a few of my coworkers were hoping it would come out sooner rather than later, his reply was somewhat deflating...4th quarter. I asked if he was sure and he said everything he has been led to believe is that it will come out for the holiday season and not before. He said obviously he wasn't the one calling the shots, but he then pointed out if someone still has it in testing, then it is still probably a while off. Here is to hoping he is wrong.
...
If they don't plan on releasing this phone until Christmas, then why would they start sending out rebate formsto their reps? 😕
...
Sure hope you're wrong about the 4th quarter. VZW is a pain in the ass, but it figures. They're going to unload all the other "junk" before releasing anything new. "Testing", as they claim, is just another delay to rid more phones. They are always the last to come out with anything new. But I love their slogan - We Never Stop Working For You. Bull - themselves.
...
i saw the message from someone about recieving rebates. I haven't seen them come in yet, but if i do I'll let you know, our promos change in a couple days so we should recieve them soon
...
The lg website still references the vx8000 as being 'new'. Are they going to be so quick to turn around and offer the 8100 when the 8000 has barely made it off the shelves?
...
Strike that last message, lg also refers to the 7000 as new and the 6100 as new. 🙄
...
I handle the NE area and I did notice the 8100 on the Verizon Approved phone list. I didn't pay attention to the date but it was highlighted in green. At the bottom it stated that it's expected to be "in product by June 27th".
Also, I can't remember where in InfoManager I saw this, but I think I saw that the rebate was going to be $50.
Also in InfoManager, there was a corporate powerpoint presentation stating the expected release date of the 8100 is in July 2005.
The phone is not listed yet in the Coming Soon area of our Equipment Guide but according to a post I read from another employee on here, it wouldn't be on there until a week or two before anyway.
I hope it comes out soon.
...
I heard that the rebate was going to be $70. From a nother CS rep.
I guess we will all just know for sure when it really comes out..
🙂
...
vzw22Jun 16, 2005, 10:39 AM
The rebate will be $50, not $70 like we all expected. Maybe a sign that the phone won't be TOO expensive I hope. Anyway, the rebates will be good from June 20th through August 28th. I got them from our VZW account rep. The message also said that the pdf files of the rebates should be in info center by the 20th. On a side note, I also go the rebate for the Moto E815, same dates on the rebate, same $50. PS: I am in the Northeast, Upstate NY market.
...
Okie Dokie. Which market is Virginia considered to be? Just a quick question (I'm a little confused). How come the rebate starts on June 20th if the phone will most likely not be out then? I mean, I'm just guessing it won't be out then since it's not on the "Coming Soon" list and it's already the 16th.
Just curious...
Thanks!
😁

They release all the rebates at the same time usually. It really means that it will be out between the 20th of June and August 28th. Releasing the rebate now means they don't have to release it in the middle of a "rebate schedule". So it is a great sign. Should be out soon!!!!!! About the VA area, I beleive it is concidered the "DC / Virginia" market, but I'm not too shure. I have heard that terminology before though.
...
ok how about the Washington State area?
Also, I would think the phones would have to be out closer to the time the rebates start, rather than when then end as it has to give people time to send them in. So, let's hope that is a good sign.
