How reliable is the info you have? Just spre speculation like everyone else, or some good solid fact?

The REP at Verizon in Laurel, MD, told me that they were going to release this phone by the end of June.

Sigh. It's all speculation and it's all subjective. So much goes into the qualification and release of a new device, and with things like Bluetooth and mobile content becoming mainstreamed, the process is taking even longer as more and more devices are supporting these features.

Often times, actual release dates are determined at the last minute. General time frames are given, but specificities tend to be inaccurate until the final hour.

You'll know when the new phone is out - you won't be able to miss it. Whichever carrier is brining it will advertise the hell out of it to you, your neighbor, and my dead Aunt Esther. Quit worrying.

Not worrying just trying to weed out good info from junk. I'm as tired of junk info as everyone else is. I do agree that the phone is going to be blown up like no other, but I don't think it witt be pushed heavily in my market due to no EVDO. None of the other phones (samsung, audiovox, vx8000) have had major marketing campaigns here, but up in phoenix there are ads everywhere. So I don't really know how quickly I will know down here in piddly ol' Tucson, AZ 😁

EVDO rollout is something of a sore spot for me too. I'm in Seattle. No EVDO here but it's in much smaller cities. How do these cities get picked? Couldn't they have at least put it where the call centers are? I mean, I have no idea what EVDO is like in person, how am I going to sell it?

Oh well. "EV" is showing up randomly on 8000's now so it's got to be getting close.

I think it's in the smaller markets so if it doesn't work great immediately, they only piss off a small market. I know Tucson isn't a huge market, but there are a lot ov Verizon customers (if you work in a call center in seattle we've probably spoken 😎 ), and EV-DO could test very well here. PTT (push-to-talk) tested fine here. There just wasn't the national demand a few years ago. FYI I did play with the EV in Phoenix for a brief few minutes and it's AMAZING!! I used it on a wireless aircard via a friend's laptop and it's SICK fast. Hopefully something soon will happen for our sale's sakes 😉

The thing is, I would totally understand if they picked medium-small markets to test it in. It's just that it's in LA, DC, NewYork, etc. There's cities smaller and larger than Seattle on the list. I just don't get it. Oh well, it's got to be soon. Sadly, I'll then have to buy a new phone because I DO need the newest thing. I don't want to keep up with the Jones, I want to look down on them and laugh.

First I'll say that this is just a blurb from VZW: I also heard sometime in June for the release. I heard this from a VZW account manager. Could be true, but it is just a blurb, as are all of the dates floating around.
