LG VI-125 backlight

I just received my LG VI-125. One thing I've
noticed is that the LCD backlight stays on
continuously when the phone is connected to
the charger. This is the case regardless of
whether the flip opened or closed. An LG rep
told me that there's no setting that will
change this, my phone isn't defective, and
this is common in other LG models. This is my
first LG, but I've never seen this on any
other phone that I've owned. If anyone can
shed some light on whether or not the rep was
correct, I'd appreciate it.

After the two week period I returned it for these reasons.

1) Backlight wouldn't go out when charging (phone is off). Got very hot. 2)Ear bud volume was poor and it didn't fit right always scratching. 3) When entering numbers the Large Font was 1/3 the size of the samsung small font. 4)Getting many calls from out of town the state wasn't displayed on incoming or outgoing calls. Phone dropped more calls than my Samsung. 5) turning off and on was weird. The end button had to be depressed for about 5 seconds.

I saw that you returned your phone for this reason, and because of the manual dialing not recognizing the phone book entry thing...But...I have the phone too, and if I manually dial a number and hit 'talk' the stored info does pop up on the display showing "dialing..Joe" or whoever. Is this different from what you were talking about?

Let's say your local area code is 212, and your phone's area code is also 212. Your home number is 212-555-1212. You store 212-555-1212 in the phonebook as "Home". If you dial 555-1212, the LG VI-125 will not display the phonebook entry. If you dial 212-555-1212, the phone *will* display the phonebook entry.

In this situation, my Samsung phones *will* display the phonebook entry in either case.

I did not, however, try the other way around, storing the seven digit number and dialing ten.

Similiar to the vi125, the backlight on the Hitachi P300 stays on while it is off and being charged. I had the Hitachi for a year and a half. This issue was not a big deal for me. I doubt that the screen would "burn out" or anything like that.
