Sony Ericsson S710a
does anyone else have really terrible reception with this phone?
this phone is really cool, but the reception is terrible, all the other phones I have had had great reception in my area which is Saylorsburg Pa. I called cingular and they sent out another one, and it had the same bad reception. Is it just sont ericsson phones?

I honestly don't know why you are having problems with this phone. I live in Pgh, Pa, and I actually get better signal with this phone than any other one I have used on the Cingular network. Sony Ericsson phones are known to rival Nokia for signal reception. You may just be in a bad area for Cingular.

I'd have to say, the signal always looks good, but i've noticed [at least here in CA, central valley]
it doesn't always "sound" good.
The cool factor beats the poorer sound, as at least i can understand even if it's a little distorted....

My 551 got better reception than my s710a. No way I'm going back though.

Well ive had it with the reception, my v551 also had better reception. Im going to try out the nokia 6102. Since Im getting the new Ipod nano, and i have the psp i dont need my phone to play mp3's and play vidoes. Plus Id rather be able to make good calls than watch a choppy movie on my phone...sorry sony ericsson.

Thats Really Odd. I get better reception with my s710a than I did with my 551. My calls don't drop in the same plaecs any more and I can use my phone in my bedroom without distortion. I live in The Sacramento area of california so reception isn't usually a problem, but I drive all over so I find the dead spots here and there, but since I got my s710a, they arent dead anymore!

I just got off the phone with cingular, and my reception has been great with this phone, until the last week. We had a big storm here and thats when my reception cut out, i thought it was because of the storm, but it continued after the storm stopped. Cingular told me that almost all of the cases like this has to do with the SIM card. They said to go get my SIM card tested at a cingular store, so i figure i might do that. Its worth a try because i used to have great reception with this phone, and i never had a problem with cingulars service where i am.
