i've not moto'd in years, but from what i've read and heard, Motorola is one of those companies that makes great products.....on paper...

I WOULD NEVER EVERY BUY ANOTHER MOTOROLA CELL PHONE AGAIN!!!

the last 2 cell phones i have had from motorola were the v60i (top of the line when i bought it) and the v600 (also top of the line when i bought it)

and i have never had more problems with a cell phone then those 2 phones... i currently have the moto v600 and it is by far the worst phone i have ever had in my life.. i hate it!!! i have done 4 warrenty exchanges and still the same problems happening over and over!! i cannot wait until the s710 comes out.. i will take this phone i have now and smash the hell out of it and never look at it again.. i will never buy another phone from motorola ...EVER! they have lost my trust in their products and their customer service is horri...

Just called in to get v551 for my wife via cingular. What kind of problems caused you to have 4 warranty exchanges, and what should I watch for?

The speaker will, over time, diminish; the buttons will become increasingly harder to push; I experienced some wacky reception issues; and the list goes on...

Don't watch for anything. Just simply don't buy the V551. Motorola's are awful phones! Do yourself a favor, save yourself the trouble, go with something else.

My 17 year old daughter has the V551..never has a problem with it..before that she (as well as I) had the V400..no problems with those either..having said that, I know MOTO has come up with some crappy phones (MPX-220 gets bashed alot also)..maybe we just got lucky..

Yeah, you guys must have gotten those two phones from the good batch, I'm happy that ya did, cause nobody should stress over something they buy because some corporation doesnt feel like adding quality to half of everything they make.

I happen to like Motorolas....I have a 720, V400, V600, and the V3 RAZR (which I'm using now) and NEVER had a problem with any of them (with the notable exception of the V600, which I did 1 (read: ONE) exchange on it and never had a problem. And I want to upgrade to either the V551 or the upcoming V635.

That is completely ridiculous. I don’t know what you're doing to your phones but I know a lot of people who have Motorola’s and would swear they are the best phones made. I can also find people to say that about almost every manufacturer around. They all put out crappy phones now and then. I personally have the V551 and have never had a problem with it.

Good for you, seems like you got lucky.

I also know people that'll swear that Fords are the best cars ever made, but anybody who's anybody knows that's bull.

I don't understand why everyone is so hell-bent agaist Motorola. Yes, they have had their problems. Any major manufacturer has their problems even on their best models. I'm sure that there are some people who have purchased an Accord, only to find that they bought a lemon. It happens.

My wife & I upgraded to Moto v220's back in October, & we have been quite pleased with them. No, they're not the latest technology with all the bells & whistles, but they also aren't bad phones. I agree with IcyHot about the v551 & v400 not being bad either. The phones that my wife & I had for 2 yrs prior to our v220's were v60's. Again - dependable phones that served us well (quite durable & great reception on those v60's too).

Quite the double standard, I must say. As the proud owner of a Honda Accord, AND a Motorola cellphone, I'm not sure what to think.

The thing is, I don't care enough about how much Motorola sucks or doesn't, therefore I'm really not going to comment on it. You can believe that I didnt read past your first paragraph, I personally and honestly don't care and I'm not going to try and convince you of anything. Regardless of what you said, it doesn't change my opinion about the subject at hand.


If you want to talk about proving points, I can say that you helped prove my point that you lack the common sense to know a car being a lemon wouldnt be a manufacturers fault. But Im not going to say that, because I pretty much already did. Anyway, let's try to not try to be a step above everyone else, you're just as much as I am, the same for everyone else. 🙂

No I don't see your point. When it comes to Motorola it's not about some people being unlucky and getting a bad phone, its a matter of some people, like you, getting lucky and getting phones that dont give you problems like no other. Motorola, like 99% of all other American manufacturers, don't know what 'quality' is. Which is the reason year after year most American companys lose their business to foreign manufacturers, ones who believe in making a quality product. Thats not to say that there's a fair share of foreign companys that make crap also. Almost everything that comes out of Korea = crap.

My opinion of Motorola is based on my countless experiences with their products, and it's not only limited to cellular phones. I can't ...

Would you PLEASE quit your rant, it will never be resolved because its your opinion vs someone else's. All companies make crappy products now and then. I personally think Nokia makes the best phones, but we all know they have had some real junkers in the past. Everyone has their favorite company they will swear by, and there is probably just as many people saying they will never buy another sony or samsung or nokia or every other manufacturer out there.

If you have some kind of problem with this thread or people posting in it, here's a simple solution: Don't read it. It's as simple as that. Nobody asking you to read it, nobodys asking you to make it your business, if you decide to make it your business, the least you can do is not complain about it.

It's not just me. I also said that my store sells a lot of v220's, v551's & v400's that don't come back with problems. Now the v180's ARE crap - I'll agree with you there.

There must be a whole lot of us who are getting really lucky. 🙂
