Cingular spokesman on fox news...
They just had a 5 minute set with a Cingular spokesman on fox news, and he was talking about hot phones for christmas. They discussed the razr, one clamshell I didn't catch, and the s710a. He said mid-January for the s710a, 400 dollars, and he said it was a Cingular exclusive phone.
In my opinion, this confirms what I'm sure we've all feared for the last few weeks...mid-January at the very earliest. Also, the phone looked REALLY big in his hands. It seemed to have a significant thickness, and when he unfolded it, it was very long. That said, it looked like an amazing piece of work, high quality and what not.

i dont know what this proves or disproves. we have all talked to cingular and sony reps online and on the phone, we have phonescoop saying that cingular swears that it will be out this month, we have the cnet video, and now this. i'd say we still have no friggin clue when it will come out. unfortunately.

Conisdering it was a Cingular rep speaking with up to the minute facts, not heresay from some 20 year old minimum wage Cingular saleperson or other info from someone not in the loop, I'd say it's obvious when it's coming out, unfortunately.

So cingular tests everything they can with this phone for months and then they find huge things wrong with it? What were they doing in testing STARING AT IT? SEEING HOW DUST COLLECTS ON IT?

Okay, so yeah, I'm a tad bit disappointed that it's not coming out this month, or so has been said by some over-payed pencil pusher/Cingular rep. on FOX. So I'm starting to look at it like this..... Better than never right????? 😕

As I stated a few weeks ago regarding it's size: I have held the s700 in my hand, which is exactly the same size as the s710a. When unfolded, yes it's long, but remember, you can manually or orally dial without unfolding it -- and you can also answer it the same way. As far as size, I can best express it by comparing it to my present phone, the moto v600. The s700 is nearly exactly the same thickness, maybe thicker by a few mm. it is about 405 mm wider, and about 10mm taller --about exactly as tall as the v600 if you include the stock antenna in its size. The pics and the video seem to make it look bigger than it is. All I can tell you is it doesn't seem that big in person.
