SE REP

Sony Ericsson Rep says the Video Camera will be full screen, MP3 ringtones, will have to buy something for the FM Radio, and Cingular has them and they choose when to release them.

yea i'm still pushing for a mid December release, but i can't see this phone coming out before the Z500a, to be honest i can see both of them coming out in the same month, but i hope so cause i would really like the s710 before i go to st louis on the 24th or atleast buy it while i'm there.

The s710 does not have an FM radio, only the s700.
Perhaps video recording will use full screen but what about video playback?

I hope you're right, but that contradicts everything that has been written about this phone until now. Seems more likely that the rep you talked to was mistaken 😉

everything that ive read says that the 710 is missing the radio..
The collateral i have for it at work (which may or may not be a company owned cingular store) makes no mention of an fm radio.

I called the number you provided and was told the 710a does NOT have an fm radio. The s700i has a radio but doesn't have edge like the s710a does. He also told me that max expandability would be only 128 MB for both of these phones. The price for this phone should be $400 w/ a 2 yr contract as soon as Cingular decides to release it. I say that we all call Cingular a few times a day and encourage them to get this thing released!! WAITING SUCKS!!!

Well its nice to know cingular has the phones, but i don't understand why they are waiting to release them. But the fact that they have them and the pricing plan all placed out show's that the phone should be out this month, i jus wonder when. I'm guessing there just waiting for the FCC to approave it.

its not the fcc approval so much right now that is keeping phones from coming out... i think it may be a result that Cingular is just carrying way to many phones right now... we have in the store more models than I have ever seen in one lineup. i mean look at motorola... carrying the v60 and t720 were no problem...but motorola now has 5 current models (180,220,400,551,v3). Too many models at once...

I emailed SE Support rather than calling that phone number last week and just got the response:

Unfortunately, the S710a does not have a built in FM radio, there is the Stereo FM Radio Handsfree HPR-20 accessory for the S710a. The S710a does not support video playback in full screen mode.

😎 🤣 😢
