Motorola A780
Motorola A780 - Edge equipped?
Does anyone out there know how to self determine whether or not an A780 is Edge equipped or not. I know the general advertisement purports it to be Edge equipped, but I read conflicting information that there may be two versions, one with and one without. My handset originated from Singapore, with box text and user manual text, all in Asian. How can I determine if mine is Edge equipped? Thanks for any help.

actually i have never seen it advertised where the A780 is EDGE equiped. i would assume you oculd download a java-based IM application form somewhere for the phone... and mine also came in a gold box... is there such a thing as this mythical "silver box" ??

duh - scratch that last post - almost every A780 ad shows it is EDGE equiped... hmmm... mine came in a gold box... instruction manual in chinese (which i am unable to read).

I bought mine in HK and it came in the mythical silver box. It is EDGE compatible. On the box, it says "Quad Band + EDGE". When I came back to the US, in Oregon, I actually get an "E" next to my signal bar sometimes instead of a "G". It seems to hope back and forth sporadically though. My main complaint is that sometimes it would choose to have NO signal on G instead of full signal on E and I have to reset the antenna to force it. 😕

Based on what I have read on this Forum, a little bit of checking around, and personal experience, it looks like the A780 really does come in 2 versions, w/ and w/o EDGE. I ordered mine online last month. It came in a gold box and sadly no EDGE, so most likely I will put it on ebay.
