I have tested two V3s and they both do the same thing when i hook them up to the "official" motorola car charger...i tried it with the old Mpx200 charger and the V3 charger..The display light won't turn off...I'm scared that i might burn out my displays longterm...Has anyone else noticed this?!

Sounds like a bug. This should'nt happen. Have you noticed any other bugs on it?

This is not a "bug." It is consistent with all V3's. While running off a constant source of power (i.e., a car's battery), the need for any display timeouts become unnecessary, as no cell power needs to be conserved. Moreover, display "burnout" is not an issue, as the display is not being overloaded with power, but rather only running on a constant, even source of energy. In other words, NO WORRIES MATE.

Sounds plausable to me, however I haven't yet tried a car charger on my V3, with the regular wall charger the backlight goes off after a bit.

Is it possible that this could just be when it is on while car charging?

There is not further need to post about this topic. It is neither a "bug" nor any deviation from the norm. The light is illuminated on the dislplay during car charging, as correctly pointed out by rw-1. You (1) can't stop it and (2) needn't worry about it.
