I myself will not buy this phone if cingular doesnt offer incurance. This phone is way to fragile with a glass outer plate and the phone is so skinny it can easily fall out of you pocket while sitting down. Im not going to buy a 500 dollar phone and not have a replacement if i drop it once and breaks.

When I bought my v3 from a cingular store today, there was no mention that they did not cover it with insurance. I asked for the insurance and they gave it to me. I don't know what would happen if I tried to make a claim.

Lock/Line WILL NOT insure anything over $400. Same reason BlackBerry and Treo devices cannot be insured. You might as well call customer service and have them remove the insurance b/c you'll be throwing away $4 a month.

I'm not an attorney, but because of my professional training, I know a little bit about the Uniform Commercial Code and contract law. Once an agent (Cingular) makes an offer ("Do you want insurance?") which I accept ("Yes.") the contract is legally binding. You don't even need it to be in writing, but that's even better. Plus, once there is consideration (ONE charge of $3.99 on a bill) it strengthens the contract even further.

I realize ten people will say "I called XYZ and they said it won't be offered," again, the law is clear. And when push comes to shove they understand that too. I wouldn't expect more than a mild fight for $500, especially since 97% of insurance of this type is profit.

Again, not that I expect to need it, but I ha...

I promise you they will not honor it. We have been advised not to sell insurance with the phone, at all.

That's a ridiculous statement to make, and destroys your credibility, because you have no way to control - or predict - the outcome of a decision that will ultimately be made by your bosses.

I assume you are a Cingular rep. If you made that statement to me I would immediately stop dealing with you. Once you take that stance, you're labelling yourself as a drone, a "no" from you means nothing, and you're obviously not in a position to help me.

The world isn't full of black and white decisions. Stop dealing with your customers like a robot. Try to understand it from their vantage point, help them work within the system. You will INCREASE your sales if you do, or you'll get higher customer satisfaction ratings, AND you'll enjoy your job m...
