Bluetooth icon not showing on my iMac Control Panel

Previously when I stuck my BlueTooth adapter into a USB port in my iMac, the BlueTooth icon showed up on the Control Panel.

I had to remove the BlueTooth adapter to make room for my scanner USB connection. Then this morning I removed the scanner cord and plugged the BlueTooth adapter back in, and now 😲 there is NO BLUETOOTH ICON SHOWING in the Control Panel. I tried turning the iMac off and turning it on again, but no BlueTooth icon shows.

I have removed the BLUETOOTH adapter before and the icon always showed up in the Control Panel when I stuck the adapter back into the port.

Any thoughts on this? I am beginning to wonder if it's a computer problem but I don't want to go that far unless and until I know for sure it is ...

Although the BlueTooth icon is not showing on my iMac Control Panel, I WAS able to do BlueTooth transfers both to and from the iMac and the phone, so I know that the functionality is there.......

My concern is: Why is the BlueTooth icon not showing on the CP like it USED to?
