Phone Resetting Itself????

SForsyth01

Feb 20, 2005, 9:45 PM
I have had this phone since the day it came out and I love it. But something annoying is starting to happen: On the 16th day I had it (figures it would be that way), my phone started turning itself off and/or restarting itself at random. Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know any possible solutions? Thanks.

Did you use QPST or BITPIM to add mp3s, transfer pics, etc?

perhaps its a state thing, or perhaps theyre lying to you or just werent paying attention when their manager told them the new law? california is 30 days for sure. it did change in december AFAIK

i searched for 'return policy' at vzw.com for a california zipcode and got this :

Satisfaction Guarantee

It must vary by state. When I put in my Pennsylvania Zip Code, it says 15 days.

interesting to know, but as long as its in good condition they'll switch it out.

if you have any issues tell them that they are new phones and bound to have some bugs in them, and you need to be able to make calls!

fyi the insurance covers physical damage, bvut the store would cover software errors that arent deemed to be related to physical damage

at least verizon is 30 days. im not 100% sure if somewhere like radioshack would have to honor that new law.

but either way they'll replace it. you're not returning it. as long as theres no physical damage theyll exchange it immediately and transfer your numbers. they wont save pics or ringtones though

if you bought your phone at verizon wireless directly they have a 30 day policy if the phone is not working. if the phone is not working within the 30 days they replace it with a new phone not a FRU phone. But the phone cannot have any signs of dropping and you must have your box

Not me, I get any phone I want at any time free because Verizon is nothing but problems. They should be lucky that I even stay with them because one day I will leave.

Hey, Guitar_Guy, send me an email when you get a minute. I want to get some information off of you regarding the Optio S5i. I am thinking of getting it, but I am also looking at a Canon SD300 as well, and I wanted your input if you don't mind.

I just sold my S5I today. I had an extra one I got as a gift at Christmas and don't need 2. Great little camera smaller than the 8000. It's even smaller than a credit card

How is the picture quality when compared to a canon, or sony? I only ask this as I have never heard of Pentax before, and the others are rated so highly.

Well, it all depends on who you speak too. I would say they both take good pics but what I don't like about the cannon is it is only 4mp vs. the 5mp Optio. Also, the Optio is a bit smaller not that matters so much. But the Cannon doesn't display a battery indicator meter until the battery is about to die which is very annoying. That is like having a cell phone and not knowing the battery is going to die until it is just about to die. the Optio shows you the battery meter and the progress as how much life you have left. Also, you have to constantly take the battery out of the Cannon to charge it but not the Optio it comes with a charging cradle that charges the battery in the camera and also has a slot for a spare battery so you can charge ...

Thank You very much for the great breakdown. You obviously have done your research on the small cameras (which is what I am going for). I was thinking the same things you said regarding the 5MP vs. 4MP. Does the Optio take AA batteries, or does it have its own battery?

Thanks,
Shawn

PS. I found the optio online for 239.99. But the accessories are extremely highly priced. But I don't think I can pass that price up for the camera.

You have to be careful where you found that price because keep in mind if you don't buy from an authorized retailer such as Amazon or BH Photo there will be no warranty and beware that some of these places that offer the lowest price also charge the highest for the accessories and you will also get a Grey market camera. The Optio runs on a D-L18 battery which costs approx $34.95 for an extra and the SD300 battery is an NB-4L which runs about $49.95. Each of these camera's come with one battery.

You are correct on the price for the accessories where I found it for that price. I better just go with the BH Photo place. That way I am sure about the warranty. What is their website?

Some people have complained that the display on the Optio is not so clear. I think it looks just fine and does what it is supposed to. Keep in mind that the Sd300 has a 2.0 wide LCD and the Optio is only 1.8 but that is not such a big difference considering it is a smaller camera. I like Pentax added a green quick mode button which you can customize and you can assign one of the most used features like the movie mode. A simple press of the button and your in movie mode. No need to go through the menue not that is such a big deal either. The Menes on the Optio are a breeze to navigate. Well, any other questions just ask. I should be a Pentax spokesman hahah

Also, if you order on Amazon it is $299 no tax no shipping. And I believe if you sign up for an Amazon Visa you get $30 off your first order which would bring the Optio to $269 again no tax no shipping.
