The 8000 should be a good phone (not great, but good) when it comes out. But you can expect delays in it's arrival just like with all the major phones released in the past. Maybe the 1st quarter, but maybe delayed further, no one knows for sure! 😢

The 9900 is out NOW and it work beautifully! 🙂 As for the MP3 player on the 8000, I can't imagine anyone really using it over the newer ultra small dedicated MP3 players. They have a LOT more memory, better controls and features, better sound, and can be hooked to accessories.

Sure, you can use the limited capabilities of the MP3 on the phone if you don't mind having it plugged in and charging while your use it or don't mind a dead battery when you need to actually use it as a...

Don't forget to mention the 8000 is a EV DO phone. The 9900 is NOT!

And what would the average person even use EV DO for? 😕 It certainly is not going to be free and in fact will carry a premium price.

With all the people on these forums complaining about spending 25 cents for a picture message, they are really going to cry when they have pay for EV DO. 😢

Sure. it's a neat technology feature, but not one the average person can justify the cost or even find a good use for.

Umm, what do you think that EV-DO is going to be mainly used for, for normal customers. Streaming multimedia, like news casts and videos and such. Right now that service is only costing trial members 15 dollars per month, no one said they were going to use the phone for Verizon's broadband internet service as they call it.
So in fact your wrong, the average person will pay for the small 15 dollar fee to watch some FLIX on their phone, I know I will be.

Gads...... are you kidding! I can't imagine watching a video or a news program on a cell phone screen of about 1"X1.5"!! 😕 I think the average person would rather relax on the sofa and watch it on a 45" wide screen TV. And how long do you...

I'd love to see some literature on "extra charges for EVDO" cause I haven't seen anything that would indicate an extra charge. As far as charging to upload and download pictures, the phone is supposed to come with a USB cable included. The only charges you should get is when you send a picture from the phone b/c you cant get home to send it from the comp.

just curious but why would you even considering buying this phone if you weren't prepared to spend the additional $15 dollars a month? All the features on the vx-8000 can be found on several other great phones (with the exception of streaming multimedia). It's ability to connect to the EVDO network (streaming multimedia)is what sets it apart from all other existing phones on the market.
