I just decided to call Motorola Tech. Support to ask them a couple of questions that I haven't seen good answers to on this forum.

I called 866.BUY.MOTO and chose:
- English
- Wireless Phones
- OPTION 4 - Software Support
(i found that Software is the only department with competent support. General Support (option 1) are people in India who have a copy of the user manual and say "hold on" so they can look things up after every question - totally useless)

I was speaking to the rep and happened to ask him "When will the BlueTooth File Transfer update come out". He answered "November"

MORE IMPORTANTLY THOUGH.... I asked him if that would also make the earpiece volume louder and he said: "The earpiece volume isn't loud enough? Wow...

Before you post another complaint to the board - FIRST CALL MOTOROLA.. and tell them about it.

They - you can tell us about it.

At least we won't all be wasting our time complaining about things that can't be fixed.

You can absolutely transfer call audio between V710 and a Bluetooth headset/carkit.

There are a couple ways to do it.

- If your headset is off, turn it on. Some headsets will re-establish a connection with the last phone they were connected to, others you have to press the multi-function button to re-connect. In this situation, the audio will switch to the headset once it reconnects to the V710.

- You can also press the V710 menu button (top row, middle) WHILE IN A CALL, scroll down to the 2nd choice. Depending on whether you've got a Bluetooth connection or not, you will either see "Use Bluetooth" or "Use Handset". You can use this to toggle back and forth between the V710 mic/speaker and your headset/carkit's mic/speaker. It ...

Read through the posts - especially those from the first day the phone came out at Radio Shack... it has been the #1 complaint so far, and the #1 reason for returns.

As a matter of fact- you don't have to look any further than mid-way down this page.

See the post called "99% Returning the v710"

the final point the poster makes is that he is returning the phone in part becaues the handset is not loud enough.

I was able to transfer a call to the BT headset while my phone was in speaker mode. I held the multi function button on the hs820 for a few secs and the headset picked right up without dropping the call.

FYI - some other issues he confirmed for me are:
- You can NOT get the phone to ring if the BlueTooth headset is currently paired to the phone. He agreed with me that if you're in your car and not wearing the headset (between calls) - you will have no idea you are receiving a call unless you UNPAIR the headset or turn BT off... but then you can not use the headset for the next incoming call, because it will not be set-up.

If this is the way you want to use the Bluetooth headset, I'd get a HS810. When you open the boom mic, it connects and answers the call. When you close it, it disconnects the bluetooth, so the phone will ring the next time. Then, just open the boom again.
If you have the...
