Transfer ringtones from old phones to VX7000 through BITPIM

I just recently upgraded (7/1) to from the VX4400 to the VX7000 and was bummed that I couldn’t transfer the ring tones and graphics I had previously purchased and the Ring tone program Modtones, which is the only one offered on this phone has no variety and the tones just don't sound “right”.
After reading through this site, which is awesome I figured out how to use the BITMPIM program to move the stuff from one phone to the other. Simply send the data from your phone to the BITPIM program. Once you do that, go in to the ring tones (which are already MID format) and do a save as. Once you do that, simply go to www.vzwpix.com and simple email yourself the ring tones. They sound the same as they did on the VX4400 and much better than th...

I just did the EXACT same upgrade yesterday, and I was wondering the same things, can I upload the MIDI files that were ringers on the 4400.

Another question: on the 4400 I used the answering machine as a way to avoid having calls go to the voice mail. Does the 7000 have the msae feature? Thanks

You sure can! What I did was send my data from the 4400 to the BITPIM program. The ring tones are already MIDI files so all you need to do it right click on the ring tone and save it to a place you can find easily (I placed them on my desktop). Then go to www.vzwpix.com and choose create. You can then send the ring tones to your new cell phone by entering your mobile number. You can attach more than one too, so it only costs or counts as one message. It’s so easy. I haven’t tried the wallpaper yet.

I don’t know about the answering machine, I never used that feature.

Good Luck! 🙂

hey, the only way to transfer incoming calls to ur voicemail is to have the phone set so that u flip it open and then press send to answer it, but when u flip it open press end twice and it sends it to v-mail.

What is the BITPIM program? Where do I get it? Not very tech savvie in this area so a step by step walkthru would be REALLY appreciated.

Bitpim is a program that allows you to download and add wallpaper to certain phones. You need a data cable to use it though and the 7000 one is not out yet. http://bitpim.sourceforge.net/ is the web site and they have step by step – it’s a great program

Correction....The 6000 data cable is able to work on the 7000 and it will also be able to work on the 8000 when it comes out.

If you have a datacable and bitpim, why do you have to send them via verizon? Can't you just transfer them over the cable?
