Anyone that has this phone... is there an email notification on this phone? I was told that periodically (every 30 minutes or so), you'd be notified of any new emails that you've received. Is this so?

I just got the phone and I'm working on that...
It requires POP access, so a regular Yahoo account doesn't work (unless you upgrade to Yahoo Plus)...I created a google email (gmail) and was able to set it up right from the tmobile website (communication tools)...and then on the phone (the key is to hit the Menu key (2nd from the bottom right), to access setup stuff...Hope this helps.

The a630 is not a "smart" phone. It will not retrieve emails. (outlook) The only email is the email that is assigned specifically to your phone number. Sorry 😢

dogdear, you gave up too easily....
this may not be a smart phone, but it's smart enough...

I am getting my emails delivered automatically to my phone every 30 minutes. I can also get them easily thorugh the Main Menu. (Remember that your email needs to have POP capability, which Gmail and Yahoo Plus have).

After setting up my Gmail account on the T-Mobile site (Communication Tools, Add New Mailbox), I went to the phone and:

1) hit MENU button (2nd from bottom right)
2) selected EMAIL MESSAGES
3) hit MENU again
4) selected EMAIL MSG SETUP
5) selected ADVANCED SETUP

from there I changed the CHECK NEW MESSAGES to every 30 minutes...i may have double checked that my email address was right and added it to the ADD MAILBOX...i d...

No I didn't. That's T-Mobile email, NOT Outlook email from non-T-Mobile account. Besides with Cingular you don't have to go thru all that. 😕

I agree with everything Sellen said.

One remaining question that I have, though, is how to prevent the a630 POP reader from marking messages as READ.

I missed some emails in my Yahoo account because my phone had READ them before I got a chance to, and they were no longer marked UNREAD.

Most POP setups have an option for this, but I haven't seen it in the A630.

I'm having the same issue with Yahoo!

Also...I was first using Google's gmail, but anytime you reply to a message it adds it to the original message in your inbox, so when the phone goes to check for new email, it thinks replies are new, so every message I send with gmail comes to my phone. This was the main reason I went to Yahoo's Mail Plus.

I haven't been able to open attachments.

Any email with pop features should be able to received on the phone. I had regular Yahoo, but needed to upgrade to Yahoo Plus to get this to work...now my phone checks every 30 minutes for new email and downloads it automatically.
