I downloaded mobile phone tools v1.23c and attempted to install it, while installing it asks for me to "Please insert disk 1 that contains the file layout.bin." I obviously have no disk and therefore cannot continue with the installation. Can someone please help?!?!

Did you unzip the file you downloaded? If you're running Windows XP, you'll need to right click on the file you downloaded and select "Extract All." This should solve your problem.

I also got the message that I did not have the origional version. I right clicked it and it did not have an "extract all" or any other extract option. When I double click the link it starts to extract, but that is when I get the message.

What version of Windows are you running? If you don't have XP (I'm not sure about 2000), then you'll probably have to download WinZip (from www.winzip.com) to unzip the file.

I am running win xp, but I also downloaded win zip from tucows.com. I tried auto extract in win xp and using win zip to extract to a file. Both ways it says that I do not have the previous version installed so the installation was canceled.

OK- Exactly what version are you trying to install?

You need to make sure you install "Motorola Mobile PhoneTools 1.23c Original English" BEFORE you install "Motorola Mobile PhoneTools 2.16 Update English"

They did not have an american flag 😁

I downloaded the one that appeared to have half an american flag on the download link. It took me to a auto save window for v 2.21b. That is the only link I saw available for download on the Motorola sight.

OK, I follow you now... Yes, you're trying to download the upgrade and that will NOT work. Go to http://www.motclub.com./html/programs.htm#mpt

From here, download the "Motorola Mobile PhoneTools 1.23c Original English" and then the "Motorola Mobile PhoneTools 2.16 Update English"

Then, follow the directions on this page to install MPT:

Well, the 2.21b update from Motorola he has does work fine.... it just requires that a previous version be installed. So if you install the original 1.23c version from MOTclub, then you can install that update from Motorola rather than the older 2.16 update from MOTclub.

Yes, Brettflan is correct. You could install the 1.23c version from Motclub and then the 2.21b update you already have downloaded. Doing it this way will have less Live Updates to install.
