Use as modem for laptop internet access.

I was talking to a verizon rep who said if I bought the office kit with this phone that I could access the internet via my laptop using the built in modem in the phone. He said if I used the setup after 9:00pm it would not count against my minutes and would be free to do.

I can't find anything on the verizon website that backs up his claim. I assume he was spreading cow manure. Am I correct that this can't be done?

As long as you have mobile web as a feature on your wireless account then the only thing you get charged for is minutes used. Assuming that you have unlimited nights and weekend minutes the account rep would be correct.

I understand if I pay the $5 a month for the web access that I get web access over the phones built in display and that after 9:00pm it would not count against my minutes.

My question is can I connect my laptop to the phones internal modem and dialup the internet and have the web on my laptop and not have it count against my minutes when connecting after 9:00pm.

That is correct!! When you are using a moblie office kit with your phone and laptop it will only use your minutes. During the day it will use your peak minutes, but after 9pm and on the weekends, it is free. There is also no monthly charge. The $5 mobile web feature is to get actually information on the phone itself.

That is good news. What are the settings I use for the laptop (dial number etc)? Is that info in the mobile office kit?

I can't believe they would allow free access to the internet via the cell phone after 9:00pm.

Thanks

Yes, you when you load the software, the PC will do basically everything for you. You will get a pop-up box that says connect and once you click on it, your phone will automatically dial in to the web using #777, and all you have to do is open Explorer up and you will be on the web. 😁 😁
