iPhone Killer?!?

maybe, that is if, sprint lets it roll out the way it configured now, not ad any of the sprint apps (desecration of the user for the apps, i.e. sprint tv, nascar, etc.) this could possibly be an iPhone killer for sure, but two exceptions is the app store from android market and sprint store. just not enough apps for it yet. Apple's app store is just to massive for any one carrier. as of right now of 145,000+ apps verse 8,500+ at best.

now as for network, with the EVO 3G/4G capable, able to use 8 WiFi device simultaneously for internet, plus the WiMax coming out to other major cities in the future, this could possibly be a hand up that sprint is looking for. As for AT&T wireless, GSM is not capable of doing such a thing for their custome...

The short answer is even though this looks like a great phone, considering the network it's going to...It's no iphone killer in terms of sales.

And before I get flamed by that comment, look whats happened to the Pre. Great phone, but it's been hampered partially by it's excusivity initially.

The PRE isn't flying off the shelves with Verizon either, Palm has had productivity issues.

I never said the EVO would be an iPhone killer. to be honest i really don't think there ever will be. and if rumor is true about verizon getting the iPhone for their network.... well lets just say i need to rethink my portfolio in the tech/communication sector.

The pre has a terrible form factor in my opinion. Its a little feminine, the screen is just too small. If that put WebOS on larger 3.7-4.3 inch screen, I think people would jump on board!

Not to mention that in over a year they have only had 2 devices running the OS.

I agree, i have a pre. the worst part about the pre is the hardware. the buttons are unresponsive, and fail often. but webos is pretty amazing. i just wish palm would put out a better put together phone

I feel the problem with the Pre had a lot more to do with the original SDK. It sucked to be nice.
I looked at it and almost every all I want to write was impossible to write with the original SDK.
As far as the network? I think with Sprint's great pricing that may be a benefit now. AT@T's network has about the worst rep on the planet. Sprint has been very good for me and a lot cheaper than Verizon or AT&T.

Why must ppl bash sprint when they dont know what they are talking about! I have sprint and it is better than any other network ive had and ive had many others. My boyfriend has the Palm Pre and ive seen how it works. Its a VERY good phone. I plan to get this HTC EVO the minute it comes out. It will be the ULTIMATE IPHONE KILLER! Just remember all the commercials for AT&T competing against Verizon.. No one has ever tried to Compete against Sprint cuz Sprint is the best and THE Others know it!

I think its more of a AT&T and VZW don't release ads about Sprint because they're the 4th carrier in the US. Only the first and second compete with each other while they don't look down on smaller carriers.

Uh No. I dont think so. AT&T and Verizon Suck! I've had both of them.Sprint is the only one with 4G Network! Which would make them the best. AT&T and Verizon know they cant compete with Sprint, That is why they dont try!

Sprint the 4th? No buddy they are the 3rd and they were the 1st for many years, until their started falling off due to poor management and customer service. But they are on the rise again. I predict in a couple years the will jump to number 2 and a couple of years after that they can return to the number 1 spot that they enjoyed for so long.

I got a Palm Pre last year, and I am not happy with it. It is laggy, and I regret replacing it for my Palm Treo. I am really looking forward to replacing the Pre with this HTC EVO 4G phone. I have been with sprint for over 10 years, so I am a "premier" customer, which means I qualify for a phone upgrade every year instead of waiting for 2 years. In my opinion, this (appears) to be much better than the Pre and it IS an iPhone killer, since the HTC brand is great and this is a vast improvement on an already great phone.

really its not the fact that it was initally exclusive what it is is that palm is a failing brand. and a failing brand was trying to lauch two phones very similar to each other too close together and they didn't fully check all the functions and how people would be using the phone. I have had many customers call to the center that i work at stating that the slide out keyboard for the pre came off or that the screen is unresponsive as several other people have mentioned. that is why the pre and pixi have kinda gone kaputz. its not the network its more of the manufactures problem.

Only 8500 apps at best? where have you been there are 30,000+ for android now 60% of them are free you only need so many ifart apps

sorry, let me clarify, i should have said approx. 8500+ usable applications with a purpose. but you are correct, there are well over 30,000 apps, and again, you can only have so many "ifart" apps, eventually they get boring or just plain suck after the first few hours.

i dont know if i understand what you mean by 'getting their network working like verizon..'

sprints prices have been much lower than vzw over the past several years.

the major problem with Sprint is their lack of marketing. i could go on for days as to why Sprint is better than vzw or att.

No such thing as an iPhone killer, nor a Blackberry killer, nor a Android killer. Has Chevy killed Ford? Has Honda killed Toyota? In fact the supposedly "best" cars inhabit a super small fraction of the market. Has McDonalds killed Burger King? Has Macy's killed Nordstrom. No. There is a market that will bear multiple competitors offering different products that will appeal to different people. Can we just kill the phrase "iPhone Killer"? You can no more give me the "best phone in the world" then you can give me the "best car in the world". No such thing.

unfortunately all sprint phones are going to come with the the sprint gps navigation, sprint tv, sprint music, football live, etc. that is part of the branding. but this phone like all newer phones out there have the ability to expand the memory for storing your phones and music via the micro sd card. it can support up to a 32GB micro card so thats alot of storage. I believe this phone will have 4GB built in storage but don't hold me to that I haven't been able to find that info out fully yet. I do work for sprint in a call center and while I am home I do alot of research (mainly for personal reasons) on this phone but i don't mind sharing what I know. 😁
