May not be launched soon

From what I hear, the V600 may not even be launched with AT&T until Cingular launches it (estimated availability early April). With the buyout still being completed, this has probably delayed the release of the phone.

The buyout will take a significant amount of time due to SEC approval etc. They are looking at several months at best to get this deal finalized...the SEC may force asset sales, etc. But......with this damn phone you never know...anything can happen!!! I don't care who has it as long as it comes out soon 😁

This is sheer speculation and I have to admit - I am so tired of seeing people post on this board as well as others that have no idea as to what they are talking about. Until the merger is finalized and the deal is inked on paper, the two companies are required by federal law to operate independently - in layman's terms this means AT&T and Cingular will set their release dates for the v600 as if they were independent companies.

The merger between AT&T Wireless & Cingular will not be finalized until several things happen:

1. AT&T Wireless Shareholders (primarily AT&T shareholders) approve the deal.
2. Cingular Shareholders (primarily SBC shareholders) approve the deal.
3. The FCC approves the deal
4. The SEC approves the deal

Probably a lot longer than 8-10 months
this is a $41 Billion dollar deal.
There are so many things that have to be worked out.
Give it a year-Until than, AT80 is ABSOLUTLEY CORRECT! AT&T and Cingular are not going to just stop operating their Companies.

Okay, first a disclaimer--I don't know if this is true, at this point I don't really care--I am just passing along info, do with it what you please.
In a neverending attempt to get this friggin phone and not pay through the nose for it, I had the chance to meet a Cingular southern california regional rep. To catch some of you up, I am currently a cingular customer and work at Warner Brothers, who has a cooperative deal with AT&T, complete with discount, etc.--now with the buyout, probably worth almost nothing. Anyway, Like some of you, I had been contemplating switching from AT&T to Cingular, just for this phone and talked to the Warners AT&T rep about when the v600 would come out (2nd week of March) and how much it would be $299 t...

"One thought regarding the oscars--If this phone is really going to be a free lance phone (not really carried by any service provider) then it rings true to what we've heard about these phones being given out at sundance and at the oscars--they come not set to any service and can be set to whatever service provider they want."

Just a note about the above quote - the phones given in previous Oscar (and Emmy) baskets are not 'free-lance'. They have always been associated with a service. Usually with free service for 1, 2 or 3 months after activation. I wouldn't expect this to be any different.

That is correct. The phone were given out with ATTWS SIM cards. They were given a VIP activation phone number. ATTWS reps were told to expect the phone calls for activation.

Where are you thinking of buying the vodaphone version from? Does the front sticker peel off? I have waited so long for this phone that im willing to travel to australia to buy it. I have never seen so much B.S. for a phone. If Motorola keeps this up they will not be in business much longer. It would be kinda cool to have a phone that is different from anyone that is in the states..I have heard the phone works great on any gsm network if you buy one that is unlocked. I just dont get it. AT&t could be making a ton of money right now selling these phones, but they are taking time to release it..I wish vodaphone would have bought at@t and we would not be dealing with all this B.S. right now.. we would probably have the phone by now..

Are you really ready to spend that much? If you want that *that* badly, you can get the Vodaphone (or unbranded, if you ask) version from here:

here:

or here:

Each of these will cost you 570$ USD shipped - and they are unlocked, and come with the 810 bluetooth headset. Of course, these are European sites and it is best you call them at the contact numbers listed on the website to finalize your shipping and order details.

If you are willing to sell yourself for a couple of years to AT&T, then good I guess wait for however long it is going to take. 300$ only. If you want to break, I would imagine you have an ETF of around 175$ (someone who knows the exact figure please correct) so you can expect to pay a nice round figure of ...
