Will the Tour support a US SIM card?

I noticed on the stats page for the Tour on Phone Scoop it listed both CDMA and GSM radio bands. Is this a typo?

Can this phone be registered for say Sprint on the CDMA side and have an AT&T SIM for GSM and work at the same time?

Or does it only allow CDMA or GSM one at a time?

I would appreciate a reply from someone who has tried a GSM SIM card in this bad boy.

Thanks!

The Sprint version of the Tour has the GSM radio unlocked. So yes, you can use a domestic carriers SIM card in the phone.

However, you do have to choose which network you want to use. Cannot use both. Also, the GSM network in the US will be limited to EDGE data speeds, where as the HSPA speeds is for overseas only.

This is absolutely 100% untrue. When in the US it phone will only work on the Sprint network, it can ROAM on other networks in the U.S. that having roaming agreements with Sprint, but Sprint service can not be over-ridden or replaced by another US based network for PRIMARY voice services.
The SIM (which is only "unlocked" after 90 days after initial activation, can only be used internationally, and the phone can only be used with the Sprint SIM card it came with within the first 90 days. After 90 days you can call Sprint and get the unlock code for the phone which allows to use any SIM card when travelling internationally, and only internationally.

When the device detects Sprint CDMA service it will not allow any other service to be ...

Thats what I said, the 90 days is to unlock it for INTERNATIONAL SIM CARD REPLACEMENT. My original quote was "After 90 days you can call Sprint and get the unlock code for the phone which allows to use any SIM card when travelling internationally, and only internationally". If you are roaming internationally within 90 days of activation you can only use the SIM card it came with, after 90 days you can have it unlocked and use any SIM card you want, but you must wait the 90 days to do that.

Not that I would do this, but, I know a person using a VZW unlocked Storm on AT&T's network, sure edge only. I don't see why the same wouldn't hold true if using the Tour unlocked on AT&T or TMO's network once configured. Biggest issue would be for service books.

But you don't need to wait 90 or any days with Sprint. In fact, Sprint has requested that RIM (the makers of the BlackBerry) not to lock them at all. Problem is RIM accidentally locked about 2000 Tours. So if you want it unlocked, call Sprints international support and ask for your unlock code if you did get a locked Tour.

But as said before I wouldn't do it, just wait for the Oynx or get a Bold or 8900.
