Does the Samsung i500 or Treo 600 work with Macs?

Nov 26, 2003, 6:35 PM

I'm with Sprint and currently looking into getting either the Samsung i500 or the Treo 600.

I'm on Mac, and I want to be able to input my databases, maps, Word and Excel documents, etc. into the phone. But it's my understanding that even though they use Palm OS, these phones are more PC based.

I've check with Mark/Space who makes interface software for Mac users. They have software for the Treo 600 but nothing for the Samsung i500. Nor are they going to make any software to link the i500 with Macs. Their statement is "use Palm OS 4.1 and you're on your own. In some cases it works and some it doesn't "

Does anyone out there have any experience with either of these phones and Macs? Does anyone out there prefer one o...

I bought the i500 not knowing that it doesn't synch w/ macs. I also have a PC jukebox so I loaded the palm CD onto that, connected my Palm 500 series to it and synched all my apps to the desktop. Then I hooked up the phone base and jammed all the addresses and apps into the phone. It works, but is inconvenient. I just tried synching the phone w/ my mac g3 but a failure notice came up saying that it needed the device driver. It couldn't locate one on the web and the cd from Sprint is definitely PC only. Get a cheap PC unit w/ USB, or borrow a friends to upload everything from your Palm. good luck. Confused
