Possible reason why the Storm was not delayed anymore, regardless of bugs

Normally, a company like Verizon may tend to hold the release of a phone if it is ridden with bugs. Instead they had all their employees flash back the OS's thursday night to prep for the launch as planned. Why? Why not wait a week or two til it could get out a solid revision of the Storm and avoid negative publicity of the bugs?

Could the answer possibly be that RIM wants to meet subscribership forecasts for its quarter that ends Nov 29th?

If that was their goal, I think they shot themselves in the foot. A lot of people are turning their Storms in and looking elsewhere.

When I took mine back today I was one of four people there doing the same. While talking to them the popular opinion was that Blackberry messed up releasing this phone too early. Their name is now tarnished.

I am not convinced about the "tarnished" image just yet, not to say it wouldn't happen though.

Remember, the iphone and it's problems? A lot of people turned those in in the beginning too.

Time will tell

Yeah, but the main difference is Apple was building a new product with no existing comparisons. Blackberry is an already respected device which has given itself a black eye by releasing a sub-standard device.

I love apple, and they are a highly respected computer manufacterer, but when the iphone was released it was just as much of a letdown from what I remember. Apple bounced back and I think RIM will too. Most probalems with the storm seem to be software related.

I hope 😳
