On the Verizon BB, do you have to pay extra for the GPS service? I know that Verizon Navigator is 9.99 a month, but doesn't BB have their own GPS on their phones? Thanks

its not gps, its blackberry maps which really wont work because verizon locks down the gps chip so that it only works with vz navigator.

google maps is ok, but that uses cell frequencies to triangulate your location and provide directions.

if you want turn by turn, you need to get vznavi.

Verizon cripples the BB's GPS. You have to use VZ Navigator. Otherwise, your location will only be an estimate within ~1000 meters using Google Maps (v2.3.1). Here's the email I received from their customer service dept in Sep 2008.

Hopefully they won't cripple the GPS on the new Storm. Didn't they adopt a new "open access" policy? Their main competitor, AT&T, doesn't cripple the GPS on their Curve 8310.
