I purchased a blackberry curve on EBAY
called verizon and switched my phones
They did not force me to take any data/message plan and the phone works gorgeously.
So for any persons looking to do this, it is feasible. If i were any of you, i wouldnt listen to the people who THINK they know, but have no idea.

Youre original post was on Friday at 840pm stating that you were "thinking" of getting a curve. Then today you said that you bought a curve on ebay and hooked it up.

I smell shenanigans, How did you go from contemplating a phone friday night, to receiving a phone off of ebay on a Sunday no less.
You cannot activate a BB on verizon without a data plan. That is not allowed, it is a company policy. You can't even put the ESN in the system without adding a data package.

i ordered the phone 2 weeks ago.
and proceeded to connect it on saturday.
if you love being suspicious go work for the fbi honey, im sure you would turn them out.
My phone works fine and i love it.

i found out that 2 of my co workers who have blackberrys also have their phones connected without a data plan. They did this via buying their phones NOT from Verizon.
You shouldnt profess commandments and carve them into stone if they are inaccurate.

Anyways, congrats to you, you bought a phone that is an email/internet powerhouse and you're using it for a calendar. I personally don't see the point. But to each their own i guess 😕

I have to agree, I don't see why anyone would want a Blackberry or any PDA without Wi-Fi without having a data plan. In the end, your phone will do exactly what a low end cell phone will do minus the high res camera and a video recorder.

Oh, also....you must have a very productive company if 3 people don't have their BB's hooked up to the internet. Sounds like a fantastic way to gain productivity in today's busy corporate america 🤣

I woukd definitly check your bill because whether you buy it from vzw or not you do have to add a data plan. Now to your co-workers, if they have an older bb there is a chance they don't have the plan..the reason for that would ve once the 8830. Came out you were nort able to add a bb without it. Ps if somehow you do not have the plan and you are sendin/recieving more than 10 or so pic messages per monrth expect to pay more than 30 in data charges anyway. Goodluck.
